Trace Adkins
Tracy Darrell Adkins, also known as Trace Adkins is the country singer-songwriter from Sarepta, northern Webster Parish, Louisiana. The American singer began his music career in the early 90s and by the 2000s had established himself as one of the most powerful and engaging singers in the country music industry.

Trace Adkins, born January 13, 1962, showed his inclination towards music when he was young and his father taught him how to play guitar. He continued to pursue his interest in music throughout high school, where he became a part of New Commitments, a gospel music group. Adkins later studied at the "Louisiana Tech University" and after graduation he started working at an oil rig. In an accident, unfortunately he lost his left hand's finger and wanted the doctors to re-attach the finger such that it didn't hinder in his guitar playing. In the nineties he started to play at the honky tonk bars in Nashville and was spotted by a Capitol Records executive who soon signed a contract with him.

In 1996, Trace Adkins released his first single called "There's a Girl in Texas", which reached Top 20 position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts. Later that year, he released the debut album titled Dreamin' Out Loud'. The album had many hit singles, including the No. 1 hit "(This Ain't) No Thinkin' Thing". Adkins released a second album titled 'Big Time', which included the Top 5 hit song "The Rest of Mine" but his subsequent singles were not so successful. After his second album, release of Adkins' next album was delayed due to the management changes. The third album titled as 'More' was released towards the end of 1999 and its title track became the Top 10 hot in the charts.

July of 2005 marked a downturn in Adkins' personal life when he was charged for drunk driving in the city of Nolensville, Tennessee. The singer pleaded guilty and he was sent to the jail for 11 months. The sentence however, was suspended only in 48 hours and Trace Adkins got away with paying a $350 fine and having his license leverage for a year. Shortly after this incident, Adkins was injured in an accident and was forced to cancel his touring plans. In the meantime, Trace managed to release his fourth album 'Chrome' which was the first of his albums to hit the Top 5 on the Country Album charts. He then entered a 28-day rehabilitation program in Nashville to treat his alcohol addiction.

2003 was a big year for Trace Adkins when he released two albums; one was the 'Greatest Hits' album and the other one was titled as 'Comin' On Strong'. In the same year Adkins name was seen in the 'Grand Ole Opry'. He also appeared on the popular game show 'Hollywood Squares' as the center square. His voice was also used for some prominent commercials like KFC. At the same time, Adkins' album 'Comin' On Strong' produced the Top 5 hit "Hot Mama", as well as a censored version of the song "Rough and Ready", the original version of which was too profane to be played on radio.

By the end of 2003 Trace Adkins had established himself as one of country music's most versatile and powerful artists. His position was further strengthened by the fact that he was working in collaboration with talented professionals including the producers 'Dann Huff' and 'Frank Rogers', the songwriters like, 'Rivers Rutherford', 'Craig Wiseman' 'Racal Flatts' Jay Demarcus' and 'Tony Lane'; and a stellar team of Nashville's top people in the industry.

Adkins' popularity increased yet further with tracks such as "Ladies Love Country Boys," "Swing," and "Southern Hallelujah". His music was a mixture of lively love and romance tracks, honky-tonk and dance floor tunes. Other songs such as "Words Get In The Way" and "I Wanna Feel Something," expressed more deeper emotions related to love, introspection and personal struggles. Tracks such as "The Stubborn One" and "I Came Here To Live" showed Trace Adkins at his emotional best, with lyrics discussing the deeper meaning of relationships. It was through this kind of music that Adkins gained a reputation as one of the most engaging singers in the country music industry.

In 2005, another album titled as 'Songs About Me' came into picture. This album included a controversial track "Arlington" that narrated the point of view of a soldier who had to be buried in "Arlington National Cemetery". Due to its sensitive lyrics, the song was withdrawn from radio. Another track on the album called "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" was the first to reach the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2006 Trace Adkins released his 7th studio album titled 'Dangerous Man'. The album's first single "Swing", became a minor hit, but the following track "Ladies Love Country Boys" was Adkins' first No. 1 single was seen on country charts after "(This Ain't) No Thinkin' Thing". The album's third single, "I Wanna Feel Something", couldn't gross any position on the charts and was eventually dropped by Adkins. In the mid of 2007 Adkins lead single "I Got My Game On," was released from his latest album.
