Yevgeny Sudbin is a renowned pianist who is famous all over the world for his magnificent concerts. A Russian concert pianist, he studied the piano and music at the prestigious St. Petersburg Conservatory in St. Petersburg, Russia. When he was ten years old, his family moved to Berlin, Germany where he took part in piano competitions and won many of them. He went on to study at Berlin's Hochschule fur Musik Hanns Eisler. He has also studied at the Purcell School, under Christopher Elton, and at the famous Royal Academy of Music. In short, he is a pianist to catch live after ordering Yevgeny Sudbin tickets.
Besides studying under Christopher Elton, Yevgeny Sudbin has also gained tutelage from the likes of Murray Perahia, Claude Frank, Leon Fleisher, Stephen Kovacevich, Dmitri Bashkirov, Fou Ts'ong, Stephen Hough, Alexander Satz, and Maria Curcio. He has established himself as a respected pianist, recording music for labels such as BIS Records, for whom he has recorded compositions by Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Scarlatti, Medtner and Scriabin. During the BBC Proms in 2008, he performed with the BBC Philharmonic a concert that was later praised by The Daily Telegraph as sublime. From 2008 to 2009, he recorded Beethoven's concertos for BIS Records, with Osmo Vanska and the Minnesota Orchestra.
In 2010, he became a visiting professor at London's prestigious Royal Academy of Music, where he had earlier studied piano as a student. He has been recording music for BIS Records for over seven years now, resulting in fourteen critically and commercially acclaimed records. His recording of Scriabin has won many awards including the Cannes' MIDEM Classical Award for the Best Solo Instrument CD, BBC Music Magazine's CD of the Month and The Daily Telegraph's CD of the Year.
Yevgeny Sudbin has played live at some of the greatest concert venues in the world. He has played at Zurich's Tonhalle, London's Wigmore Hall Master Series, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, the Gilmore International Piano Festival, the San Francisco Performances and the ProArte Musical, staged in Puerto rico and Montreal. During the last season, he performed with the London Philharmonic the Piano Concerto by Scriabin at the Royal Festival Hall and with Philharmonia at the same venue, playing Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 2.
He has also recently debuted at the Avery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center, playing at the Mostly Mozart Festival in New York City. He has also performed at the Concertgebouw Hall in Amsterdam as part of the Master Pianist Series and graced London with his presence as part of the Southbank International Piano Series. The orchestras he has recently performed with include the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Seattle Symphony, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony.
Yevgeny Sudbin plays equally well solo and with orchestras.
