The Wireless Festival is an British music festival that takes place in England. It was founded in 2005 and was held at Hyde Park in London from then until 2012, except for 2006 and 2007, when it was held at the Harewood House, Leeds. It is set to take place at the Olympic Park, London in 2013. It is a festival run by Live Nation and was first known as the O2 Wireless Festival until 2008, after which it was sponsored by Barclaycard, thus named the Barclaycard Wireless Festival, until 2012. In 2013, the festival's sponsor is now Yahoo!, with its name changed to the Yahoo! Wireless Festival, a must see for fabulous acts and artists with Wireless Festival tickets in hand.
The first Wireless Festival was held in 2005 at Hyde Park and featured New Order, Moby, The Bravery, Hard-Fi, Graham Coxon, The Dears, The Dresden Dolls and Rilo Kiley during the first day. The second day of the festival featured Basement Jaxx, LCD Soundsystem, M.I.A., Death In Vegas, Killa Kela, Lady Sovereign, Mylo, Roots Manuva and Stereo MCs. The third day of the festival featured Keane, Supergrass, Echo & the Bunnymen, James Blunt, Rufus Wainwright, Brendan Benson and Martha Wainwright. The last day of the festival featured Kasabian, The Rakes, Editors, The Others, Soulwax, Ladytron, Peter Doherty, JJ72 and Cut Copy.
In 2006, the Wireless Festival was held at both Hyde Park and Harewood House. It was held for four days at Hyde Park and for two days at Harewood House. It played host to some amazing artists and bands, including The Strokes, Super Furry Animals, Belle & Sebastian, Dirty Pretty Things, David Gray, Violent Femmes, Massive Attack, The Flaming Lips, Damian Marley, James Blunt, Zero 7, Paolo Nutini, Depeche Mode, The Dears, Goldfrapp and Mystery Jets, amongst many more. At Harewood House, the festival played host to Massive Attack, DJ Shadow, Goldfrapp, Just Jack, The Who, The Flaming Lips, Super Furry Animals and The Zutons.
In 2007, the festival was held at both Hyde Park and Harewood House. It played host to such artists and bands as The White Stripes, Queens of the Stone Age, The Bess, Daft Punk, Plan B, Calvin Harris, Kaiser Chiefs, Kate Nash, Under the Influence of Giants, Faithless, Badly Drawn Boy, Cat Empire and Just Jack. In 2008, the festival was held at Hyde Park and featured many famous artists. This included Jay-Z, Alice Smith, The Cool Kids, Mark Ronson, Morrissey, Beck, The Rascals, Fatboy Slim, Deadmau5, MSTRKRFT, Counting Crows, Ben Harper, Goo Goo Dolls, Jo Koy and many more.
From then onwards, the festival has played host to Kanye West, P!nk, LCD Soundsystem, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Lily Allen, The Black Eyed Peas, The Chemical Brothers, Pulp in a reunion concert after ten years, Deadmau5, Afrojack, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Jessie J. In 2013, it is set to feature some of the most popular artists and bands in the world, with the headliners being Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z. The festival will also feature Snoop Dogg, Emeli Sande, will.i.am, Rita Ora, Trey Songz, A Tribe Called Quest, John Legend, Kendrick Lamar, Nas and Miguel.
Justin Timberlake is an American artist, actor, record producer and dancer who has been active in the world of music since 1992. His first solo album, Justified, was released in 2002, followed by FutureSex/LoveSounds in 2006, both of which spawned several hit singles that ranked number one on the Billboard Hot 100, with the albums themselves ranking first on the Billboard 200 chart. Each of the two albums has sold more than seven million copies, a figure that makes him one of the best selling and successful artists in the US. In the world of films, he has played roles in Bad Teacher, The Social Network, Friends with Benefits and In Time.
Jay-Z is an iconic rapper, a hip hop artist whose music has sold millions of copies and earned many awards. He has collaborated with the likes of rock band Linkin' Park on an album and worked with the biggest names in hip hop, as well as inspired many a hip hop artist. Snoop Dogg is a rapper, singer, songwriter and write whose music has sold a mind blowing thirty million plus copies. He has won twenty six awards from a mind blowing ninety seven award nominations. Will.i.am is best known as one of the members of The Black Eyed Peas with his songs and solo albums also ranking first on the charts. In the UK alone, his singles have sold a breathtaking nine plus million copies.
