One of the hottest boy bands of today, The Wanted are all geared up with their upcoming string of concerts. The five member Irish-English group has been able to capture the hearts of millions of fans around the world. The chart-smashing and hit-producing musicians can be seen performing throughout Costa Mesa, Las Vegas, Louisville, Des Moines and Saint Paul. Fans should purchase The Wanted tickets as soon as possible, before they get sold out.
Formed in the year 2009, the Wanted was formed via mass auditions. These auditions were organized by Jayne Collins who had previously established groups such as Parade and the Saturdays. These auditions took place over a time period of nine months. Initially Collins chose, Max George, Nathan Sykes and Tom Parker for the boy band. Later on Collins added Siva Kaneswaran and Jay McGuiness as the auditions carried on. After rigorous re-auditions, these five members were finally chosen for the ensemble and were signed onto Geffen Records and Maximum Artist Management.
The debut single that was released by this band was titled “All Time Low” and came out in 2010. The song was co-written by Wayne Hector, Ed Drewett and Steve Mac, with input also given by the five singers. The song became a hit immediately landing on the number one spot on the UK Singles Chart. It stayed on the UK Top 40 singles chart for over seventeen weeks and took the music industry by storm. The second single came forth three months later. It was named “Heart Vacancy” and was also written with the help of Wayne Hector. The single saw similar success as it reached the second spot on the UK Singles Chart.
Before the Wanted released their debut full-length album, they presented their third single, “Lose My Mind,” which also charted on the UK Singles Chart. The boy band was invited on the television singing reality competition, the X Factor to perform the track. With just three song releases, the group was able to capture the attention of the masses. Their self-titled studio release was certified Platinum by the RIAA. It also reached the number four spot on the UK Albums Chart. With this, The Wanted was seen embarking on their first tour named “Behind Bars” tour. Supported by Starboy Nathan, Twenty Twenty and Lawson, the group performed in over twelve cities.
After the completion of the tour by the end of 2010, the Wanted started writing songs for their sophomore release. They were accompanied by Wayne Hector, Steve Mac, Guy Chambers, Diane Warren and Ed Drewett in the writing process. A single from the upcoming album was released in January 2011. It was named “Gold Forever” and the track debuted on the third place of the UK Singles Chart. Another release “Glad You Came” became a worldwide success. It was able to top the UK Singles Chart maintaining its place for a consistent two weeks. It was also able to reach the top of music charts in Ireland, Australia and various European territories.
Two other singles namely “Lightning” and “Warzone” were made public and saw similar success. Their sophomore album “Battleground” also went Platinum and with this the Wanted were seen supporting superstars such as Justin Bieber and Britney Spears on their tours.
