Born in Faisalabad in 1974, Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a legendary Pakistani singer of ghazals and qawalis which is a popular form of music of Muslim sufis and saints. He made his debut as a playback singer in Bollywood by singing the hit song, Mann Ki Lagan from the movie, Paap.

In 2012, he has won an Award for Best Music Talent in a Film at the 14th London Asian Film Festival for the song Koi Dil Mein from the movie Tamanna. In 2011, he has won an Award for Best Male Playback Singer at the Filmfare Awards and an Award for Best Singer Male at the Pakistan Media Awards in the same year. In 2010, he has won an Award for Best Male Playback at the Screen Awards as well as an Award for Best International Act at the UK Asian Music Awards. Ustad Rahat has also appeared as one of the judges on the singing reality show, Junoon - Kuchh Kar Dikhaane Ka and also on Chhote Ustaad 2 alongside Sonu Nigam.
