Two Door Cinema Club is a popular indie rock band hailing from the known Bangor and Donaghadee County Down in Northern Ireland. The group was created in 2007 and in a short span of time has gained an immense fan following. The band comprises of Sam Halliday, the lead guitarist and backup vocalist, Alex Trimble, the lead vocalist, beats, synthesizers and rhythm, as well as Kevin Baird, the bassist and backup vocalist. On the 1st of March in 2010, they successfully released their first studio recorded album titled as Tourist History. The album came out on a French independent label company called Kitsune Music Records. The band is signed to the esteemed Glassnote Records in the United States of America. Their debut album was released on the 27th of April in 2010 in the United States. The album was then chosen for the famous Choice Music Prize in 2010 for in the category of Irish Album of the Year. On the 3rd of September in 2012, their second album, Beacon came out and was seen being slotted at the first position on the celebrated Irish Albums Chart.
The formation of Two Door Cinema Club is quite interesting. Halliday and Trimble came across each other when they were both in the same school, the Bangor Grammar School. They both later met up with Baird. When they were just sixteen years old, the three talented musicians performed together on the known ATL Rock School. Their band name was Life without Rory, at that time. As Life without Rory, the three managed to record a total of three demos prior to breaking up. Two of these demos can still be seen on their MySpace page, where as the third demo is on YouTube. When their first project did not go too well, they initiated in forming another band in which they did not include a constant drummer. Finally the Two Door Cinema Club was created. There was a lot of interest of fans on their social network page which further led the band to focus entirely on creating new material for their new band.
In January 2009, they released an EP called Four Words to Stand On. This EP resulted in getting a lot of attention on various websites. At the Eastcote Studios located in London, the band began to record its debut album in July 2009 along with Eliot James. This debut album as mixed at the Motorbass, Zdar's studios that is in Paris with Phillipe Zdar. On the 26th of February in 2010, their album Tourist History was released. Their songs, "Undercover Martyn", "I Can Talk" and "Something Good Can Work" followed the release of the album. They were seen performing live on the famous American television show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, on the song "What You Know", on the 18th of January, 2011.
On the 3rd of September, 2012, Two Door Cinema Club successfully released their second studio recorded album called Beacon. After the release of their second album, the band then released a documentary which was in a total of four parts and was titled as What We See. The documentary has been filmed by Gregg Houston and shows the band undertaking their European summer tour of 2012. In December 2012, the band announced in the media that they will be performing at the prestigious T in the Park 2013 festival in the summer of 2013. This is a renowned Scottish music festival.
