Music runs in the family
Tucker Beathard is the young son of Casey Beathard, one of the most famous writers in country music for the last two decades. In Tucker's words "I've always looked up to my dad's songwriting, because that's as good as it gets. I've always been a huge fan of the way my dad tells stories and the path he takes in songs."
Tucker spent many of his early years playing drums in a band with his two older brothers. One day, it hit him that as a drummer, he would never be able to write his own songs; and writing songs was something he realized that he really wanted to do. He therefore decided to quit playing the drums and picked up the guitar to write his own music.
Writing Style and Inspiration
Tucker Beathard is an avid composer, he writes numerous songs, but is very picky about which ones actually make the cut for an album. This shows how much like his father he is. To get an idea of how much he has been influenced by his father, just have to look at his favorite songs, most of which were written by Casey Beathard. Tucker names songs such as Eric Church's 'Homeboy' and Kenny Chesney's 'Don't Blink' as some of his all-time favorites.
His absolute favorite song though happens to be one by country music superstar Tim McGraw, called 'You Had to Be There.' He says that the song, lyrically, is as good as it gets and he hopes to get to that point where he could hone his craft that well.
Tucker Beathard grew up as the middle child of three Beathard boys. His older brother, C.J. Beathard, is a quarterback for the University of Iowa and is one of his best friends. He grew up watching his father work hard to raise their family, and as such, holds a great amount of respect for him. He literally watched his father work his way to becoming one of the best writers in the country music genre.
Casey Beathard showed him that nothing in life is handed down to you; you have to work hard for everything you get.
A Bright Future for Young Beathard
Tucker Beathard has already begun to make his mark in country music. His lyrics are raw and personal, and come across as very accessible. Audiences are lured in with the bluesy, gritty rock and country music blend that exists in his songs. He has a voice, which doesn't have as strong a country twang as others and is laced with a sense of defiance and rebellion. Whatever he's doing, it's working, because fans can't seem to get enough of him.
2016 will be an exciting year for Tucker Beathard. In the first half of the year, he is scheduled to tour with Chase Rice. This will be followed by a European tour with Dierks Bentley. In the summer he's scheduled to perform with Blake Shelton and he says he's working on a full-length album later on this year. He is now out on the road.
