Co-founded by brothers Brett and Brandon Stewart, Millennial Choirs and Orchestras is an independent non-profit organization (NPO). Established in 2007, MCO is working to offer distinctive music education to members of all beliefs. The MCO is open to people from all walks of life including adults, youth and children.
The focus of their musical compositions is primarily on God and country. MCO is striving to bring God back into the concert hall with the help of classical/religious music. At MCO they believe that, that music is a significant part of the society today and is vital for the American youth especially.
Over the years, MCO has grown to become a strong performing force with more than twenty five hundred participants. Marking a prominent presence in places such as Texas, Arizona, California and Utah, MCO is now globally recognized as the largest organization of its kind. Representing multiple faiths, the organization is composed of hundreds of volunteers.
At each of the locations, MCO accommodates seven ensembles which include six choirs and one symphony orchestra. The participants in these ensembles are volunteers and are committed to the MCO and its objective. At the end of each semester, the ensemble presents what they have learned at the finest concert halls in the community. The ensemble names include Young Singers Chorus, Children's Chorus, Youth Chorus, Concert Choir, Grand Chorus and Symphony Orchestra.
The Young Singers Chorus includes children aged four who are in the first grade. They are introduced to the basic concepts of music. Children's Chorus focuses on teaching fifth graders how to read music. They learn the basic concepts of music history and theory.
In the Youth Chorus, sixth-eighth graders learn fundamentals of music theory, music history along with singing in multiple parts. They learn to do so as part of a choral ensemble.
Advancing from the preceding stage, ninth to twelfth graders get a better understanding of music theory, music history and choral ensembles by being a part of the Concert Choir.
The Grand Chorus targets adults and includes singers aged eighteen and above. They are introduced to choral/orchestral works. The singers understand repertory choral literature along with anthems and hymns which are arranged for the orchestra and the choir. The Symphony Orchestra is an advanced level for Grand Chorus which is reserved for accomplished instrumentalists.
In 2011, MCO presented the album "Messiah in America." On its release, the album reached the Billboard's Traditional Classical chart and debuted at number one. Their first Christmas album titled "O Holy Night" was released in 2012. The album reached the top ten of the Billboard Traditional Classical chart.
Their latest album "To Be American" was released in July 2014. The album came out with a bang and reached the number one spot on the Billboard in several categories.
