So, for Beatles fans (and music fans), the choice is clear: If you want to hear songs recreated that were written, arranged, and performed with a genius and talent sadly missing from today's music scene; if you're too young to remember what all the fuss was about; or if you just want to see one of the best live rock bands performing today, look no further than The Fab Faux....
The Fab Faux is a musical tribute band performing the works of The Beatles. The Fab Faux are without a doubt the most musically satisfying Beatles tribute band on the scene today. The band is committed to performing live what they feel would be an accurate reproduction of The Beatles' repertoire, often performing material The Beatles never played live. Often, the band is accompanied by a horn section (known as the Hogshead Horns) and a string section (known as the Creme Tangerine Strings) to achieve the proper sound. . The group features Will Lee, bassist for Late Show with David Letterman, and Jimmy Vivino, guitarist for Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Other members include Rich Pagano, Frank Agnello, and Jack Petruzzelli.
The group has performed multiple times in Liverpool, England, where they played three shows each year from 1999 to 2005 for that city's annual Beatle Week festivities, including outdoor concerts for over 35,000 people on the Apple-sponsored Yellow Submarine and Let It Be stages. The group was featured in a full-length profile on CNN that was broadcast worldwide. They also participated in a CD of original material by Beatles tribute bands, recorded in London at Abbey Road Studios.
Their performances in the New York City area have included The Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall, Irving Plaza, The Bottom Line, and The China Club. Their shows often have themes; one show could feature a track-by-track rendering of The White Album; the next might feature all of the Beatles psychedelic work; another will include a full survey of the band from its Cavern Club days through Let It Be. The Fab Faux has also performed a show of post-Beatle solo material.
On March 28, 2007, the band performed on The Howard Stern Show for the second time. They performed "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)/A Day in the Life" from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, "Penny Lane," and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." Stern stated during a replay of their performances that listening to them gives him chills.
On February 9, 2007, the band appeared on Late Show with David Letterman, marking a musical cross-over of sorts, as band member Jimmy Vivino is a featured player in The Max Weinberg 7, the house band for Late Night with Conan O'Brien. It was also the first time a cover band was shown on The Late Show, and the first time a member of the CBS Orchestra (Will Lee) performed with a guest band.
Boasting the high visibility of TV star/musicians Will Lee from The Late Show with David Letterman and Jimmy Vivino from Late Night with Conan O'Brien; five strong lead vocalists (including Rich Pagano, Frank Agnello, Jack Petruzzelli) and a commitment to the accurate reproduction of The Beatles' repertoire; this is the band to see if you want to know what it might have been like if The Beatles toured behind their later albums (with a healthy portion of the early guitar-based stuff that most tribute bands play.) Imagine hearing complex material like "Strawberry Fields Forever", "I Am the Walrus", and "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite", performed in complete part-perfect renditions; or such harmony-driven songs as "Because", "Nowhere Man", and "Paperback Writer", reproduced not only note-for-note, but with extra vocalists available to achieve a double-tracked effect!
Since their formation in the spring of '98, the Fab Faux have created a buzz among Beatles fans in the New York City area; packing The Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall, Irving Plaza, The Bottom Line, and The China Club with high energy shows; for an audience liberally sprinkled with fellow musicians, celebrities, and fans alike.
Apparently, people have taken notice, as the group was featured in a full-length profile on CNN that was broadcast all over the world on several of that network's programs; and participated in a CD of original material by Beatles tribute bands, recorded in London at Abbey Road Studios! Since August '99, the group has performed multiple times in Liverpool, England, where they play three shows each year for that city's annual Beatle Week festivities, including outdoor concerts for over 35,000 people on the Apple-sponsored Yellow Submarine and Let It Be stages.
In world history of music, The Beatles are known to be one of the most influential and popular bands of all times. It's their massive popularity that later spawned numerous tribute bands that make an effort to reproduce the same exact sound of the band's original live performances. Among those is The Fab Faux that is known for recreating the closest most impersonation and sound of the original Beatles concert. The group performs all the famous hits by the Beatles at their live performances, and also incorporate some of Beatles' songs that they band never really performed live. In order to achieve richness and similar sound, the band is also accompanied by a string section and a horn section. The band came into existence back in 1998 and since then they have performed at various venues in New York City like the Nokia Theatre, Irving Plaza, The Bowery Ballroom, The Bottom Line, Webster Hall, The China Club and the Beacon theatre. During their performances, The Fab Faux also sticks to certain theme for the entire show.
Due to their precision and closest most reproduction, the group has also recorded for CD which featured original songs by the Beatles performed by the tribute bands.
