The Dirty Heads began their music journey in 1996 and since 2003 the group has the same lineup of members. The formation of the band can be traced back to the first meeting between Jared Watson 'Dirty J' and Dustin Bushnell 'Duddy B', when they were in the freshman year of their high school. Watson became inspired by Dustin and decided to collaborate with him on a new music project. By that time, Dustin was already member of a punk band, while Watson was a novice to the music world. The two began writing songs with reggae and punk influences and soon after added three more members into their collaborative works. These included the bassist David Floral, percussionist Jon Olazabal and drummer Matt Ochoa.
With their defined sound, the ensemble started recording their music. Influenced by the sounds of The Beastie Boys, Sublime, Bob Marley and 311, The Dirty Heads created their own distinctive music style. The group soon gained a fan following and also started performing at local bars and other venues.
The Dirty Heads released their debut album in 2008, "Any Port in a Storm". It included fourteen songs which were all reflective of California party energy. The upbeat single, Stand Tall, became the highlight of the album and a major hit. The album also included contributions by the iconic musicians Billy Preston, Josh Freese, Slash and Alex Acuna among many others. The Dirty Heads also started touring the country with many renowned names in the music world, including Kottonmouth Kings, Matisyahu and Sublime with Rome, to name a few. The Dirty Heads have released three more studio albums and an extended play in addition to several other notable singles. Their latest record, "Sound of Change", came out in July 2014. The band is expected to feature songs from this album as well in the upcoming concert.
Sharing the stage with the Dirty Heads is the renowned rock ensemble Pepper. The trio includes Kaleo Wassman as the guitarist and Bret Bollinger as the bassist- who are both vocalists as well - along with the Yesod Williams as the band's drummer. Pepper formed in the mid nineties and was heavily influenced by the popular mainland groups like Sublime. Their official entrance in music industry was marked by a seven-song demo recorded in 1997. After gaining a small but dedicated fan following, Pepper released its debut album, "Give'n it", in 1999, which featured an engaging combination of hip-hop, reggae and pop music. Two years further down the line, the band also made it to the 'Warped Tour'.
After three years of extensive touring since its debut album, the band released their sophomore effort in 2002, "Kona Town". The band continued to tour heavily for a couple of more years and released their third album, titled "In With the Old", in 2004, which made it to number thirty-five on the Billboard Heat Seekers and to number eighteen on the independent albums' chart. The rock band has released six albums so far with their latest namesake record released in 2013.
