Jack White, Alison Mosshart, Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence are the names that you might be familiar with since many years if you happen to be a true Alternative Rock music fan. All of these have been performing for years with several renowned Alt. Rock Bands. And to materialize the deepest imagination of a true rock fan, all of these decided to form a super group that we presently know as Dead Weather. The band has been performing live with short intervals ever since their first live performance on March 11, 2009 and that was before the band officially released its debut single.
The first live performance that the band gave was at the opening event of the Jack White's Third Man Studio. This was the place where all the members of different bands held a jamming session for the first time. After observing the smoothly flowing chemistry that they all had, they decided to officially form a band. Soon, they started writing and producing original material.
The debut studio album of Dead Weather, Horehound, hit the music store shelves on July 14, 2009. On the same date, downloadable versions of the 'Treat Me like Your Mother', 'Hang you from the Heavens', and 'No Hassle Night' were also made available for the Rock Band Video Game. After its release the album managed to debut at the #6 spot on the U.S Billboard 200 Album Charts. On the other side of the ocean on UK Albums charts, it debuted at the #14 spot.
Dead Weather's performances of 'I Cut Like a Buffalo', '60 Feet Tall' and 'Treat Me Like Your Mother', were also featured on a short documentary-like film called Full Flash Blank, which contained interviews of all the band members and was co-directed by the drummer of the band, Jack White. Meanwhile supporting their debut album through their live acts, the lead vocalist of the band, Alison Mosshart also verified in the Q4 of 2009 that the band's second studio album is 'halfway done' as well. Jack White, later, also confirmed that the band would be embarking on a concert tour in March 2010, named as the Australasian tour.
While talking about the band's upcoming second album, White said that the first single from that album would be titled 'Blue Blood Blues' however he later over wrote his comment when he said the first single is now going to be 'Die by the Drop', which was made available for the download in March 2010. The title of their second album is announced to be 'Sea of Cowards' and it is scheduled to be released somewhere in May 2010. Meanwhile, to give fans something to look forward to, the band has decided to take their act live. And while they're doing that, make sure that you grasp your Dead Weather Tickets before the stock runs out.
