Come and experience summery side of indie rock and light power pop with Telekinesis tickets. Telekinesis is the brainchild of Michael Benjamin Lerner, a Seattle based music artist. It is a band represented by Lerner or "Jesus". Lerner is a multitalented youngster, he is the band's heart and soul. His music and lyrics deeply inspired by indie music of the seventies and the eighties. As the front man, songwriter and the vocalist, has given his best to band. Lerner also plays instruments from the drums, to the lead, bass, rhythm and acoustic guitars. Telekinesis returns this year with Lerner leading his touring band with guitarist Erik Walters (The Globes), bassist Eric Elbogen (Say Hi's) and keyboard player Rebecca Cole (Wild Flag and The Minders). This sure will be an opportunity to see their live side, out aloud. Be sure to join in.
Lerner has discovered his musical side though his band. He has introduced the world and meaning of responsibility with music. Early childhood inspirations and indie rock has helped this youngster to create great music. From his self-titled inaugural release in 2009 to the sophomore 12 Desperate Straight Lines in 2011, the artist has matured a lot. His music and sound has become refined and has no hints of doubt or confusion. Instead he has made song about confusion and doubt as states of mind and he talks about them very clearly in his songs.
The debut album Telekinesis! was produced by Death Cab. Soon after the release, the album was circulating well in the indie rock circles. Lerner soon decided to make a debut tour to support the album and was on the road in no time. He was joined by Chris Staples, Jonie Broecker and David Broecker on the touring band lineup. Although the album and the tour got mediocre commercial success, Lerner got noticed for his progressive music and songwriting talent.
In 2010, Lrener was all set to release his new EP titled Parallel Seismic Conspiracies. The EP was a step ahead after the debut album. It linked Lerner with many artists who wanted to play for him live. However, he did not link up with them because he undertook the production responsibility of 12 Desperate Straight Lines. He stayed away from touring until the album was ready to be released. He worked with Chris Walla (Death Cab) on this full length LP. Soon after completion the awaited record release and promotion tour was launched. This time the touring band was all new; it had Jason Narducy as the bassist and Cody Votolato on the lead guitars. This tour was very special because Telekinesis's fan pool increased greatly. This nationwide tour was a treat for them as the band played raw indie rock. This was a series of live concerts where Lerner played many rare songs. Fans was ecstatic and wanted more live shows. But Lerner had a new piece under production already.
Almost a year and half after the second album, Lerner came out with the third album titled Dormarion. Dormarion was a wonderful experience for the band's fans because it has a fresh feel. The lyrics, songs and music combine to deliver its message. Lerner has written 12 songs which are featured on the album. The album gives of vibes of content and satisfaction; Lerner explains that he wrote half of it at his West Seattle home and the rest at his San Juan Islands family home. The peace and nostalgia helped in recording this album. He also wanted to play the instruments for this album just like he did for the debut album. Instead, he went all the way to Texas and recorded with Jim Eno (Spoon) at the Public Hi-Fi and completed the album in the summer. Lerner claims that this album is his true love to date and he thinks that his fans will enjoy it very much.
The Dormarion support tour brings the band's biggest and best concert to a venue near you. The tour is being reviewed to have a lot of attractions for fans and follows. It will play the band's most loved hit tracks as well as some great music from the hidden treasure of Lerner's music box.
