The 34^th Annual Tejano Music Awards are scheduled to be held at the Lila Cockrell Theater this September. The Tejano Music Awards were initiated by the leader of the Latin Breed Band, Gilbert Escobedo and the former art teacher and music veteran, Rudy Trevino, in 1980. The award show is managed by the Texan Talent Music Association which is a non-profit organization geared to promote excellence in the Tejano Music Industry. She has received the Tejano Music Awards nomination for Female Vocalist of the year for thirteen consecutive years since 1984. Shelly is known for her strong voice and her charismatic stage persona.
