Stephen Stills released another album in 1971, titled Stephen Stills 2. The follow up record reached top ten. Nash and Cosby embarked on an acoustic tour that was a huge success in their careers. The tour proved that no matter the artists travel as a group or individually, they are best at their work. Though none of the CSN or CSNY projects were in progress during that time, this tour in 1972 was fruitful for all the members of the group.
 
Young gained solo superstardom by releasing a number one hit single "Heart of Gold" as well as the chart-topping 'Harvest'. Nash collaborated with Young to work on a single named "War Song" by Neil Young. The duo came up with an album Graham Nash David Crosby that peaked at number four on the Pop Album chart.
 
The music of CSNY precisely reflected the viewpoints and tastes of the counterculture during 60s and 70s. The group was politically active and supportive, protesting against the Vietnam War in 1970.
