Who would have thought that with a name like Sick Puppies a band would reach such heights and success that Sick Puppies has managed to achieve. Today, it is one of the most famous rock bands in the music industry and continues to lure fans in with the amazing music they make. 
 
Sick Puppies was formed in 1997 in Sydney. Shimon Moore, Emma Anzai and Mark Goodwin make up the band, with the Moore on lead guitars and vocals, Anzai on Bass and Goodwin on the drums. Shimon Moore and Emma Anzai formed the band when they were in high school, bonding over their natural love of music after they got into a trivial argument in school over the use of a practice room. They soon got over their differences and often got together to play music.  Mark Goodwin joined the band later, when it moved to the USA and advertised for a drummer.
 
It was to be expected that a name like Sick Puppies would attract attention and raise questions in the mind of the fans and critics. The story behind the name is quite funny and seems to fit the devil-may-care attitude the band has. Apparently the band was named Sick Puppies when the members encountered a puppy that vomited on their equipment during one of the band's practices. Since then the name Sick Puppies has stuck with the band. The members do not deny that the odd name has helped them attract the attention they wanted. However, all those who listened to their music out of curiosity have now become diehard fans.
 
Sick Puppies struggled for a few years before they entered the mainstream music scene. In 2000 the band entered Triple J Unearthed band competition, where they presented their song "Nothing Really Matters". They tied for the first place with another band and got the chance to sign a deal with Paul Stepanek Management. Winning this competition and signing the deal brought them under the limelight and eventually they release their first album "Welcome to the Real World".
 
"Welcome to the Real World" gained a lot of attention due to the different sound the band had. Critics of the band were concerned that Sick Puppies would turn out to be just another rock wannabe band. However, the group proved all the skeptics wrong and produced quality music that achieved a lot of commercial success. After the release of its first album, Sick Puppies decided to move to Los Angeles to try its hand in a bigger market.  After the move to the US, the band released its second album "Dressed Up", from which a single "All The Same" reached the top ten on the US Modern Rock Charts. "Dressed Up" won the hearts of the fans and critics with its deep and soul searching lyrics.
 
After being firmly established in the United States, Sick Puppies went on to create music that differentiated them from the hundreds of rock bands in the industry. After "Dressed Up" the band released another album "Tri Polar" in 2009. The album was a dynamic combination of aggressive and emotional musical compositions, with crescendos and decrescendos that took the listeners on a roller coaster ride. Critics claimed that it was impossible to hate the album given its complicated and catchy musical compositions and brilliant sound.
 
The fourth album by Sick Puppies is due to be released in summer 2013 and fans eagerly anticipate more awesome music by their favorite band. The nontraditional persona that the band has created is clearly visible on stage. Their live performances are infused with energy and musical charge that drive the fans wild.
