Shooter Jennings is an American country music singer, more commonly identified as the son of legendary country rock stars Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter. From his early childhood Shooter Jennings was a part of his parent's live touring. Calling their tour bus home he started playing drums at the age of five along with piano. Guitars became a passion in his adolescent years and at fourteen he began playing rhythms for his father's band and explored music formally. His discovery of rock 'n' roll helped him carve out a country rock form that carries Jennings signature.
In order to pursue a career in music Shooter Jennings relocated to Los Angeles from Nashville. Over her he became a part of a southern rock band called Stargunn. This experience was very important for Jennings as the band was very robust as a live rock act and he felt underutilized as a performer. Local club performances allowed the band to not only manage huge fan fare but also media recognition, but Shooter Jennings realized that this was not where he belonged. He wanted to trace back to his country rock roots. He realized his connections with the music his parents have been making and singing all along and decided to revisit his very own way. New York was where he recollected himself as a country artist and planned how and what he intended to do following this genre.
Shooter Jennings moved from New York to L.A. once again. This time he intended to discover county via anther band .357s. 357s was an outfit that explored numerous possibilities and dimensions of contemporary country rock. Together Jennings and the band formulated their own version of country rock and delivered colors and sounds as festive as they could be. Under the Universal South Record's label their debut album Put the O Back in Country came out in 2005. His father's trademark country rock helped him recreate a fine rendition; this was an amalgam of his parental effort and his very own reflection. The sophomore album Electric Rodeo and album that had precedence in terms of quality was released in 2006. The album was recorded before the debut release but came out as number two because of its experimental and edgy material. However, the innovation and creativity helped him won commendable following and recognition in the country rock scene.
A live set, Live at Irving Plaza was the first live compilation that came out late in 2006. Shooter Jennings' third album The Wolf 2007 was a solo effort that became a sensation. Heavily loaded with highlights like cover of Walk of Life by Dire Straights the album became a hit. Shootings began live touring to support this album. With the support of his backing band Hierophant, Jennings compiled and released Black Ribbons, his fourth album. Black Ribbons (2010) was an effort different from precious once as it was a concept record and was re-released as Black Ribbons: The Living Album. The success enjoyed by this album called for a second version release that featured Hierophant and Shooter Jennings together in studio recordings and live performances.
Shooter Jennings remained fairly active as an activist of his genre. He formed and floated the idea of XXX, a new radio format that supported two different genres and their hybrid as one. It allowed country, rock and country rock artists, both upcoming and established to come to this platform and perform their music. This deviant concept was divergent from mainstream radio concept and format and went nowhere initially. However, it gained momentum when Sirius/XM materialized the idea on their show and it became a hit. Soon after, Shooter Jennings decided to relocate to New York, where he began Country rock as his second music venture. Here he formed his third band called Triple Crown together they began recording. Their very first release was Outlaw Youa video/song depicting Shooter's stance against the mainstream impartiality towards true talent, especially country rock. This song became a massive hit when CMT's daily audience showed a peaking popularity graph. Shooter Jennings's fifth album Family Man featuring The Deed and the Dollar also managed a similar popularity graph on CMT's daily audience's requests.
