The country musician has garnered an immense fan following in a short time. A fun fact about Hunt is that prior to pursuing music, he used to be a college football player. Just after completing college, for a brief period of time, he signed up as a free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs. However, Hunt found his calling in the country music scene and began writing songs for Kenny Chesney, Billy Currington and Keith Urban. He co-wrote the 2012 single, "Come Over" for Kenny Chesney, for which he was awarded by the ASCAP. He wrote "Cop Car," for Keith Urban and "We Are Tonight," for Billy Currington in 2014.
In September 2013, Sam Hunt's debut single, "Raised on It," came out. The following month, he released a 15 song mixtape, titled Between the Pines, on his website. Finally in January 2014, he signed a record contract with MCA Nashville and released his new single, "Leave the Night On". On the 16th of September, "Leave The Night On," was certified gold by the RIAA.
A four song EP, X2C, was released on the 12th of August, 2014. This EP was intended as a preview for his upcoming album. The EP was met with critical acclaim from both his fans and the critics. It reached the 36th position on the Billboard 200 and number five on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. Moreover, it went on to sell about 8,000 copies.
Hunt has announced that his full length studio recorded album, Montevallo, will be coming out on the 27th of October, 2014. This album will feature songs like "Leave The Night On," along with some songs from his X2C EP.
Cale Dodds will be performing with Sam Hunt at his concert. Dodds is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for the southern rock band, Classic Addict. Apart from creating songs with his band, Dodds has been seen working as a solo artist as well. He has been opening shows for the likes of Billy Currington, Brett Eldrege and now for Sam Hunt. His opening performances are extremely exciting and set the mood for the headliner of the event.
Sam Hunt and Cale Dodds bring fine artistry to a live show. While Dodds captivates the audience by getting them in the mood, Sam Hunt gets them partying all night long. He kicks off his performance with "Raised on It," and then progresses to his other songs. Hunt is also notable for singing a medley of a few of his favorite songs from the 90's like Deana Carter's "Strawberry Wine," and "Meet in the Middle," by Diamond Rio. At his upcoming concert, Hunt will also be performing songs like "Breakup in a Small Town," and "Take Your Time," from his upcoming album. His brilliant vocals and the ability to play different instruments live is an amazing sight. When you see him pick a banjo, you are in for a real music treat.
