Royal Lipizzaner Stallions
Harkening back to time when the horse was a symbol of grace and majesty, Royal Lipizzaner Stallions are truly a great experience to be enjoyed. You perhaps do not need to be a horse lover to enjoy ?The Equestrian Treat of the Century?.
Royal Lipizzaner Stallions is an internationally acclaimed spectacle seen by millions of people throughout North and South America, Great Britain, Europe, Australia and Hawaii to date. Many horses and riders are brought from Europe to perform in this unique family oriented arena attraction.
The Royal Lipizzaner Stallions was founded in the 16th century for the exclusive use of the Hapsburg Royal family of Austria. The Lipizzans are unquestionably the rarest, most aristocratic breed of horses in the world.
The pride of the Hapsburg Empire, the Lipizzan breed was first established by Archduke Charles at Lipizza. The Lipizzans? celebrated escape was shown in the Walt Disney movie, called ?Miracle of the White Stallions?.
This movie depicts General George S. Patton saving the breed at the end of World War II from certain extinction. It creates an even greater world-wide interest in the Lipizzaner breed.
The Royal Lipizzaner Stallions? tour features 14 stallions performing selected maneuvers in an exciting presentation. The show emulates the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, Austria, in its presentation of Lipizzans, while maintaining a traditional as well as entertaining performance.
The conclusion of the performance of The Lipizzaner Stallions is the traditional Grand Quadrille. It?s featuring six to eight Lipizzaner Stallions with their riders performing an intricate, equine ballet, showcasing maneuvers through the highest level of dressage.
The Lipizzans prance, march and intricately weave their way across the floor to the music of the Masters. The scene is set in a spectacular ballet of four-footed white dancers.
People can witness exceptionally difficult maneuvers such as the Courbette, the Capriole, and the Levade. All highly refined leaps performed only by stallions of great strength, intelligence and endurance are included in the celebrated Airs Above the Ground.
Although the Lipizzans star in this presentation, other show breeds featured include the ancestral forefathers of the Lipizzan, the Spanish Andalusian and the Arabian.
Not only is the Andalusian shown in saddle, but also in a unique presentation where the rider performs all the maneuvers of the Grand Prix Olympic level.
In 2001, Royal Lipizzaner Stallions? 30th anniversary was celebrated. All new music, choreography and routines have been incorporated in this anniversary special, emphasizing mainly on the historical background and foundation of the Lipizzaner breed, from its original breeding.
Audience was also steered to know about its use as a horse of war to a horse of nobility and aristocracy to a living form of equestrian art.Intense and focused on precision, yet aesthetically beautiful, the Herrmanns? Lipizzans feature a widely varied program.
Classical dressage on long lines and an exquisite Pas de Trois are combined with the dramatic and difficult Airs Above the Ground to form the basis of the first half of the Lipizzans? presentation. ?Schools above the Ground? is one such part of the performance that is much-liked by the entire family.
