The Rosco Friction Quartet concert is set to feature two music quartets, made up of some of the most talented musicians around. These groups of musicians have graced numerous venues and have performed successful concerts all over. At this particular event, you can see them live, after buying Rosco Friction Quartet tickets.
The Rosco String Quartet was founded in 2012 and is based today in Salt Lake City, Utah. It is the official graduate string quartet of the University Of Utah School Of Music and is also the 2013 NOVA Young Artists Ensemble. More recently, it was invited to take part in the fabled Juilliard String Quartet Seminar. During this seminar, members of RSQ studied under Juilliard's fabled musicians, and performed with them at a magnificent concert at the Lincoln Center.
Despite the quartet's recent formation, its members have more than ample experience. The four musicians who make up RSQ have received training from Fly Street, Elis, Brentano and Bennewitz String Quartets. They have also learned from members of quartets such as Takacz, Biava, Doric and Miro. Dr. Hasse Borup is the primary coach of the Rosco String Quartet. The quartet has also trained at the Juilliard International Summer Music Academy, and performed at the Garth Newel Music Festival, the Aspen Music Festival and Encore.
The Rosco Friction Quartet continues to play an active role amongst string quartets as well as in its own community. More recently, RSQ performed at the Utah Museum of FIna Arts Chamber Music Series and recorded live concerts such as Highway 89 for Classical 89 Radio.
RSQ also performs a series of education concerts at various institutes in Salt Lake each year, promoting classical music. The quartet has also performed with a number of orchestras, including Pennsylvania's York Symphony, Orchestra at Temple Square and Virginia's Loudoun Symphony.
RSQ has been known to perform new and lesser known pieces of music, including String Quartet No. 3 by Carl Nielsen, Meditation for String Quartet by Lekeu, Paysages by Block as well as compositions by Haruhito Miyagi, John Shelby and Nic Chuaqui.
RSQ will be joined on stage by the Friction Quartet, a string quartet whose music has been praised by the San Francisco Examiner as "chillingly effective" and the San Francisco Classical Voice as "terribly beautiful." The quartet's mission is to expand the current repertoire of string quartet music by adding more adventurous and bold contemporary music. Since its founding in 2011, the quartet has performed twenty four World Premieres and has commissioned twenty six string quartet pieces. More recently, Friction was the opening act for Kronos Quartet's Under 30 series.
Friction is set to collaborate with Opera Philadelphia on a stunning set of selections by Missy Mazzoli. The quartet was also selected as one of the eleven acts featured by San Francisco Bay Guardian's On the Rise feature in 2014.
Recently commissioned works by the quartet include Unmanned by Ian Dicke and Gabriella Smith's Inyo. Mary Kouyoumdjian, Brendon Randall-Myers, Max Stoffregen, Ben Hjertmann and Adam Cuthbert are set to work on commissions in the near future. Friction won the Berkeley Piano Club Award in 2012.
They are set to perform at the Deer Valley Festival in Park City, Utah and will be part of the Beethoven Serioso quartet performances, reimagining the music of Skrillex, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. At this concert, they can be seen live with Rosco Friction Quartet tickets in hand.
