They have used it as a platform to use their unique music backgrounds to make some amazing country music. They are now on tour and this is your chance to buy Rich tickets and enjoy the sweet sound of their unforgettable melodies live in concert.
Big Kenny is a singer and songwriter who had not been involved in the music business for too long before he met Rich. Kenny spent his childhood in Virginia listening to country and rock music. The influence of rock music on Kenny's songs sets him apart from other country musicians. He was signed to a recording contract in 1999 when he recorded his first album, 'Live a Little.' The album was not released till 2005, souring his relationship with the record label and Kenny left soon after to start his own band, 'luvjOi.'
After recording two albums and receiving some local fame, the band broke up and Kenny went on to start Big & Rich. He has also released two albums, 'The Quiet Times of a Rock and Roll Farm Boy' in 2009 and 'Big Kenny's Love Everybody Traveling Musical Medicine Show Mix Tape, Vol. 1' in 2010.
The other half of the Big & Rich duo, John Rich is a singer, song writer and producer who used to be a bass guitarist and co-lead singer for the band 'Lonestar.' He was born in Tennessee but moved to Nashville to be a singer. He decided to become a solo artist in 1998 and recorded his first album, 'Underneath the Same Moon.' He also released two singles. He formed Big & Rich in 2004 and it gave him the chance to explore new and innovative styles of music that he had never experienced before. When Big & Rich ceased to perform between 2008 and 2011, he released one album, 'Son of a Preacher Man' in 2009 and two extended plays, 'Rich Rocks' and 'For the Kids' in 2011.
These two very talented musicians William Kenneth Alphin, also known as Big Kenny, and John Rich first met in a club back in 1998 and became good friends. They planned on writing songs together ever since their first meeting but due to their respective personal commitments and careers it became difficult to do so.
That changed when they founded the 'MuzikMafia' (Musically Artistic Friends In Alliance). It was a collection of talented musicians from extremely diverse music backgrounds coming together to share their thoughts and ideas without the disruption of record labels and commercial entities. MuzikMafia became extremely popular around the country and was instrumental in launching Big & Rich.
After collaborating for MuzikMafia, Kenny and Rich teamed up to work on material for different artists. It was during this time that they decided to work together. Their first album was titled 'Horse of a Different Color' and it was released in 2004. They released four more albums after this; 'Comin' to your City' in 2005, 'Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace' in 2007, 'Hillbilly Jedi' in 2012 and 'Gravity' in 2014. In addition to that, they have also released seven EPs, fifteen singles and fourteen music videos. They have had multi platinum selling albums and have had several songs charting on the Billboard Top 200.
Both band members decided to take a break from Big & Rich from 2008 to 2011 to work on solo projects. Despite rumors to the contrary, they remained on good terms and released solo albums and plays. They reunited in 2011 for the song 'Fake I.D' and released their fourth album the very next year.
With their amazing vocal range and brilliant songwriting skills, Big & Rich is a band different from their contemporaries. The way they use varying elements in their sound and how they incorporate innovative ideas, make their music and performances a truly wonderful experience. You will soon see them performing near you as part of their latest tour. If country music is your thing, then get your Rich tickets and feel the power of their music live in concert.
