Details of Rebelution and the Ticket Luck value
Reggae, the sound of peace, love and unity has evolved so much throughout the decades. This transition from the old school to a more experimental reggae can be well seen in bands like Rebelution. Having formed in Santa Barbara, a tourist haven of California, Rebelution’s music is a mix of feel good lyrics and laid back music. This band started off with Eric Rachmany (vocals/guitar), Matt Velasquez (vocals/guitar), Rory Carey (keyboard), Wesley Finley (drums), and Marley D. Williams (bass). Matt later left the band after the release of their debut album Courage to Grow to work on his own project titledDrum Major Instinct which was a disappointment to say the least.
In 2004, Rebelution came into existence at the Isla Vista beach of Santa Barbara. After a few humble performances initially, the band built its fan base did consecutive performances and local shows. After gaining fairly strong recognition Rebelution came up with an independent EP in 2006 which was self titled. Gathering bits and pieces from their first EP, the band came up with Courage to Grow, their first full–length album in June 2007. This album can be credited as the album that set them in the world music stage as a breakthrough. The tracks of this album were very mature, thought provoking and hard hitting.
This contemporary reggae feel to their music gave Rebelution global recognition and the online downloads of their songs soared as radio stations worldwide played their tracks, making them the next big thing! Most notable track has to be “Safe and Sound” which conquered the radio waves and had multiple plays on the Los Angeles’s KROQ and San Diego’s 91X radio station. Courage to Grow charted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums and was chosen iTunes Editor’s Choice for Best Reggae Album of 2007. Their first full–length album promised a lot to look for from this band in the future, and we have to say that they sure did, with Bright Side of Life.
Bright Side of Life, Rebelution’s sophomore third album was released in 2009 and was instantly a massive success, toping all reggae charts. It was released under Rebelution’s newly founded record label "87 Music". The warm and more “message music” essence of this album came as a cumulative progression from where they left in the previous album, with beautiful guitar bits and instrumental (sometimes industrialistic) feel to the whole experience. Sales went crazy and the album reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart. It was also No. 1 on iTunes in the reggae music genre, and the 3 spot for top albums downloaded in the United States in all music downloads!
Since 2010, Rebelution has done numerous big stage performances, including the All Good Music Festival and also the famous Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, California. Almost all of their concerts and performances are sold-outs, with the fans jam packed to see their favourite band perform. Their catchy songs are anything but the orthodox reggae songs, while at the same time sticking to the roots and inspirations of their childhood years. The chemistry between the band members and the audience is so much infused that it becomes a somewhat enchanting experience of watching them perform and sing along. There is huge audience participation as the band moves from side to side on stage and play with their own songs to bring something new at each concert. The band is currently working on a new album and it is expected to drop sometime this year and there is every chance that you will get a sneak peek into their latest works if you purchase the Rebelution Tickets and be a part of this tour.
