Renowned American rapper Post Malone has extended the "Runaway Tour" into 2020. This will be the second North American leg of the outing. It is in support of the musician's latest studio album "Hollywood's Bleeding." Once again, Malone has roped in Tyla Yaweh and Swae Lee as special guests for most of the tour dates.
The Beginning
Austin Richard Post was interested in music since a young age. According to the musician, he chose Post Malone as his stage name when he was in his mid teens. It was rumored to be inspired by the basketball player Karl Malone; however the singer clarified that 'Post' is his last name while he took on 'Malone' through a rap name generator.
Post Malone initially performed music as part of a group called BLCKVRD. Some members of this group moved to San Fernando Valley which is where the rapper met Rex Kudo who produced numerous songs by Malone. These include the smash hit single White Iverson.
White Iverson is a reference to the professional basketball player Allen Iverson. Malone recorded the song just two days after writing it. Upon completion he uploaded it on his SoundCloud account in February 2015. Few months later, its music video was also released. The song became a massive hit and earned praises from the likes of Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller. It got a million views within a month of release.
Post White Iverson
With White Iverson becoming a huge success, Post Malone soon had offers pouring in from well-known record labels. He eventually signed a deal with Republic Records. Subsequently, he worked with hit rappers like Young Thug, 50 Cent and Kanye West. He also connected really well with the Canadian music artist Justin Bieber and also opened for him on his Purpose World Tour.
In April 2016, Malone shared his new single Go Flex on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show. The following month he dropped his debut full-length mixtape titled "August 26." The title was initially a reference to the release date of the rapper's first debut album "Stoney." However, the date had passed when the record actually hit the shelves.
Albums
The much-awaited "Stoney" finally arrived in stores on December 9, 2016 and hit the sixth spot on the Billboard 200. Its single Congratulations featuring Quavo became a big hit and went on to receive diamond certification from the RIAA.
In 2018, Post Malone dropped his second studio album titled "Beerbongs & Bentleys." Upon release, it recorded 78.7 million streams on Spotify. The record was certified by RIAA after just four days. It gave three Top 10 and six Top 20 songs.
Post Malone Runaway Tour
Post Malone treated the fans to his third and most recent album release "Hollywood's Bleeding" in September 2019. He is now touring in support of the record with his headlining "Runaway Tour." The trek kicked off shortly after the release of the album and has received a tremendous response so far.
