This Mexican comedian was born in 1944. Polo Polo is his stage name; his birth name was Leopoldo Garcia Benitez Pelaez. He is famous for entertaining people through his practical jokes for which he usually makes adults his victims. Polo Polo was born into a business family. His father was dedicated to the shoe industry and naturally, he became acquainted with the whole process from the start. Polo Polo himself worked at the family's office for several years as a young man. Once he reached adulthood, he realized he had the knack to crack jokes and was a real charm under the limelight. He started off by working at small pubs and bars and at this time, comedy wasn't a profession yet as he was barely paid. He slowly rose to fame and eventually, started working at bigger places. His show was moved to Cheops Nightclub where he became so well known that to watch him fans had to buy a ticket which were often sold out. A regular at nightclub, Khufu, saw Polo Polo performing there as the main act and in 1986 he found his first breakthrough. He performed at the Crown Hall, Crown Hotel Plaza. This was the biggest theater that Mexico had to offer at the time.


Polo Polo started recording material to make albums and his first album was a live one and was titled The Trip to Spain. He released the album through'Musart' company. The jokes were full of explicit content, which meant that there wasn't much that radio broadcasting companies could play from Polo Polo'salbums but people generally knew him so well that the album managed to sell over a hundred thousand copies. These were the Golden times for Polo Polo and as he states himself, 'the most memorable period of all'. Polo Polo started coming on television regularly on late night shows. In 1988, he made some performances on US soil. The Exclusive Artist Productions invited him and he performed at the Chache Hollywood for a little over a week and all his shows were jam-packed.
 
After this, he kept traveling all over Mexico and the United States. He broke attendance records when he performed at the Grand Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles California, the Sahara Hotel, Casino Las Vegas and many other stages. He had his own TV show called 'Con Ganas'.
