Mickey Hart's father was a brilliant drummer as well and that is what made him fall in love with drums. Hart used to help his father run their store that sold music instruments. "Live/Dead" was then released and it received widespread acclaim from every corner as well. That was followed by another successful release titled "Workingman's Dead" in 1970. Hart's last album with the Grateful Dead was "American Beauty" which was released on 1^st November, 1970.

After a successful stint that lasted for half a decade, Mickey Hart left the group and embarked on a new journey as a solo performer. Hart made his solo debut in the year 1972 with album "Rolling Thunder." It got four stars out of five from renowned critics like "Allmusic." Two years later Hart once again went back and re-joined the Grateful Dead and that remained the case till the group officially stopped performing in the year 1995.

Even during his second stint the the group Hart continued to work on different projects as a soloist. He has been actively pursuing his love with world music as well. He has teamed up with dome of the most famous names in music from all over the globe to work on different projects.

It went to the top of the Billboard World Music Chart in no time and remained at the pinnacle for a whopping twenty six weeks straight.
