Michael Bolotin, who is better known as Michael Bolton, was born on February 26, 1953. He is a well-known American singer-songwriter, who has created some of the best soft rock ballads. He has unique and powerful singing vocals.

Background:
Michael Bolton was born into a Russian family in New Haven, Connecticut [1953]. He is youngest of three children, and became successful as a singer in modern/easy listening genre during the mid-80s and early 90s. Many people do not know that Bolton earned his first record label deal at the age of 15. His band's name was the Blackjack, they had once toured with Ozzy Osbourne. Bolton started recording music as Michael Bolton in 1983. This was after earning his first big hit as a songwriter, How Am I Supposed to Live Without You. The song just missed out on the pop Top 10. However, Branigan helped the song reach to number one on the Adult Contemporary charts. It remained there for three weeks. Branigan and Bolton wanted to work together after this. Next, Bolton co-wrote I Found Someone for Branigan [1985]. Branigan only created a minor impact. However, when Cher resurrected the song 2 years later, which reflected the perhaps hidden demand for the song. Bolton also co-wrote many other songs for both these singers.

One of the top songwriter's first big successes as a singer was when Bolton interpreted someone else's creation. This was the Otis Redding classic, (Sittin' On) the Dock of the Bay. Since he had always been interested in soul and Motown classics, this song's success drove him to re-create the standard Georgia On My Mind. His version was a major success. A major number of Bolton's recordings are original material. However, Bolton has also written songs for Kenny Rogers, Kenny G, Peabo Bryson, Barbra Streisand, KISS, and Patti LaBelle. Bolton's early songwriting co-workers included Doug James and Mark Mangold. As his career blossomed, he began to work with even bigger musicians, such as, Diane Warren, BabyFace, and Bob Dylan.

As a singer on his own, he has performed with Renee Fleming, Zucchero, Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Patti LaBelle, Ray Charles, Percy Sledge, Wynonna Judd, Celine Dion, and BB King.

Bolton has three daughters [Isa, Holly and Taryn]. Tehse children were born between 1975-1990, during his marriage to Maureen McGuire. He dated actress Nicollette Sheridan between 1993 and 1995. In 2006, it was believed that Bolton was back together with Nicollete, and he also accompanied her at the 2006 Primetime Emmy Awards. Later, it was said that Bolton and actress Sheridan moved in together.

Bolton set up the Michael Bolton Foundation (now known as Michael Bolton Charities) [1993]. This organization was established in order to help women and children exposed to the effects of poverty, and emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. The charity has generated more than $3.7 million in funding.
