Lily Rose Beatrice Allen was born May 2, 1985. She is an English singer and songwriter who is best known for songs like Smile and LDN. Lily is Keith Allen's Alison Owen's daugher, both of whom have been in the entertainment industry.

Her single Smile went to the top of the UK singles charts in July 2006. Thatsame year in December her first album ?Alright', was still third most popular album according to Mixmag. In 2007, the album was nominated for the award of Best British Album and also for Best New Artist at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards.

Early years:
Lily Allen has an elder sister [Sarah], a younger brother [Alfie Owen-Allen], and a younger sister [Rebecca]. Lily has a number of half-siblings too. In 1988, Lilly came on the ?The Comic Strip Presents...' episode The Yob. Her father left the family when Lily was just around 4 years old. She says she has grown up with her mother as working class people. They lived in a council house environment throughout her childhood. When compared to other reports, this does not seem right many say because she went to some of England's costliest public schools [13 schools]. She was reportedly expelled from several schools for smoking, drinking and performing fellatio. Her musical influences are believed to be T.Rex, The Specials, and Happy Mondays and read.

Record label interest:
Lily Allen got in touch with her first manager, George Lamb, when he prevented her from assaulters. Lily Allen had been rejected by several labels. She blames her drinking as well as being the daughter of Keith Allen for this. She gradually went on to use her father's contacts to sign with Warner Music in 2002. However, this fell through when the executive who had signed her left.

Lily Allen studied horticulture and wanted to become a florist. She changed her mind and came back to music. She then started writing songs, and her manager presented her to production duo Future Cut [2004]. This small team worked in a poky but feasible studio in the basement of a building. By 2005, Allen signed with Regal Records that gave her GB?25,000 for producing an album. Apart from this, they were not able to render her much support because of their commitments to releases like Coldplay and Gorillaz.

Recent activity
Lily Allen recently performed in June 2007. She also provided back up vocals for the Basement Jaxx song Lights Go Down. She has appeared on tracks of Robbie Williams' recent album too. Lily has sung for Rawhide as well as Wanna Be.

Lily Allen has been a controversial personality at times, particularly regarding her opinions about other musicians. One instance of her expressiveness was witnessed when she visited private school with Luke Pritchard of The Kooks. She made some belittling comments about them, and then followed that with a cover of their song, Na?ve. Lily Allen has gone as far as using abusive language to describe Bob Geldof. Apart from these comments, there is a string of other insulting comments that she has made at other musicians.
