Campbell achieved remarkable success after he joined Helm's Midnight Ramble, where he became the lead singer. The band proved to be his magnum opus, earning him the coveted Grammy thrice for producing three of Helm's final CDs. The versatile Campbell is a multi-instrumentalist and plays banjo, guitar, mandolin, cittern, fiddle, dobro and pedal steel. The artist is also an expert at various genres and has been simultaneously venturing into Rock, Country, Celtic, Folk and Blues. The artist's debut acoustic guitar effort was a solo album titled "Rooftops" that he released in 2005. He received critical acclaim for his instrumental talents when the Americana Music Association awarded him a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. The singer made guest appearances across the industry working with renowned artist like Julie Miller, B. B. King, Buddy, The Black Crowes and Judy Collins. He is mostly recognized due to his association with Bob Dylan's band as a guitarist.
