In 1967, country musician Keith Lionel Urban was born in New Zealand. Besides being an accomplished musician, this multi-faceted artist has also established himself as a television personality, music competition judge and songwriter. Keith's family moved to Australia when he was two, and the Australian-raised artist marked the beginning of his career from there. Before moving to the United States in 1992, Keith released his eponymous debut album in 1991. Four of its singles made it to the Australian charts. Landing up work as a session guitarist, Keith moved on to the next level and started his band known as 'The Ranch'. The band produced a studio album called The Ranch with Capitol Records in Nashville. Two of the singles from the album made it to the Billboard 'Hot Country Songs' chart.
Given the successful production of his band's studio album with Capitol Records, Keith decided to record a solo album with the label as well. He released his second eponymous album (styled as Keith Urban II) in 1999, making his American debut as a solo act. The album was a hit and was certified as platinum by the 'Recording Industry Association of America'. The album's single "But for the Grace of God" gave him his first number one song on the Hot Country Songs chart.
Capitol Records once again led the artist to produce a 'number one hit' song. Following his success with the label, Keith released his second Capitol Records album in 2002 under the title Golden Road. Its first single "Somebody Like You" was categorized as the 'biggest country hit' of the decade (2000-2010) by Billboard Magazine. The fourth single "You'll Think of Me" garnered the artist his first Grammy Award. Urban's third album, titled Be Here, became his highest selling album and earned a 4× platinum certification. The album spawned three more number one singles.
Keith released his fourth album in 2006 with the title Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing. The album spawned Urban's second Grammy Award, which he won for the song "Stupid Boy". His fifth and sixth albums titled Defying Gravity and Get Closer were released in 2009 and 2010 respectively. His latest album Fuse produced the chart topping songs, "Little Bit of Everything" and "We Were Us", both of which received significant country airplay.
Over the years Keith has released nine studio albums out of which one was released with The Ranch. This brilliant artist has produced thirty one charting singles in the US, fifteen of which reached number one. A testament to Urban's versatility is the fact that he is a multi-instrumentalist as well. He plays drums, sitar, mandolin, banjo, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano and bouzouki.
This remarkable artist is also known for his contributions to mentoring upcoming talent. He was one of the judges on American Idol and a coach on The Voice, the Australian version of the singing competition. This talented luminary is soon coming to showcase his talents in your hometown in Las Vegas. The LINQ will be hosting the event, the venue that will soon be known for the High Roller, the world's tallest observation wheel. Purchase the Keith Urban - Day tickets and enjoy the event with your friends and family to the fullest.
