John Cleese was born and raised in the resort town of Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. Always a bright student and an active athlete, John was also famous for his tall built (6 feet, 4-1/2 inches). He enrolled in the prestigious Cambridge University to study law. During this time he discovered his aptitude and talent for the art of comedy. He collaborated with his friend to craft some comedy sketches which earned them the membership at the Cambridge Footlights Society.  It was here that he met his future writing partner Graham Chapman. Amongst his popular comedy works include 'Cambridge Circus' and 'A Clump of Plinths'. John grabbed a great deal of attention due to these shows, eventually bagging a BBC radio series called 'Im Sorry I'll Read that Again'. Having made a considerable name in the industry, John began his next writing venture 'The Frost Report' alongside friend Chapman and future partners of the 'Monty Python's Flying Circus' comic series. Among these are Terry Jones, Eric Idle and Michael Palin. 'The Frost Report' also marks the acting debut of John Cleese. The show enjoyed immense viewership and offers started pouring in for both Cleese and Chapman.
 
The talented partnership (John and Chapman) was part of several hit shows including 'At Last the 1948 Show' and Doctor in the house'. Eventually the two were offered a complete television series by the BBC Network. For this special venture called 'Monty Python's Flying Circus', the duo joined hands with a number of other renowned artists like Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. The genius of the show lay is its peculiar humorous take on the very ordinary and mundane aspects of daily life.
 
Following the success of 'Monty Python's Flying Circus', John again collaborated with fellow Pythons to produce three feature films titled, 'Life of Brian', 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' and 'The Meaning of Life'.
 
The popular comedian along with his former wife Connie Booth, created one of the most celebrated British comedies 'Fawlty Towers'. The title character of a sharp tongued, rude hotel manager was enacted by Cleese himself. He had based this character on a proprietor whom he met during his stay with a Python friend at a hotel. The show ran for a few years until Clesse decided to put his focus back on movies.
 
In the 80s, the comedian appeared in a number of movies such as 'The Great Muppet Caper', 'Private on Parade', 'Silverado', 'A Fish Called Wanda', 'Fierce Creatures', 'Clockwise' and 'Pink Panther 2'.  He has also starred in three Shrek movies, two Harry Potter movies and two James Bond movies.
