Joseph Fiddler Walsh or, more popularly known as Joe Walsh is a veteran American musician. Joe Walsh owes most of his success to his association with three highly success American rock and roll bands: the James Gang, the Eagles and Barnstorm. He also earned great success and recognition as a solo artist and session musician particularly with his collaborations with notable artists such as B.B King and Dan Fogelberg.
Joe Walsh was born in November 1947 in Wichita Kansas, however his family moved to New Jersey during his early teens - a move that was to bring Walsh in contact with the people who acted as catalysts in the initiation and development of his musical career. Inspired by his mother who was a classically trained pianist, Walsh learnt to play the oboe and clarinet in his younger days. It was during his days at the Kent State University that he developed a decided affinity for rock music. It was during this period, extending from 1965-1969, that he joined the collegiate band Measles as their lead guitarist. Around the same period, Walsh also took the first steps towards a professional career as a musician when he signed up as the lead guitarist for the James Gang. The James Gang was an Ohio based rock band and Walsh soon became the most exciting band member for its fans. The band's commercial breakthrough came with the album The James Gang Rides Again released in 1970 which is most noted for its popular number Funk#49 which soon turned into an FM Radio favorite. Towards the end of 1971 Joe Walsh left The James Gang and joined Barnstorm. He also occasionally reunited with the Eagles. In 1994, the Eagles reunited to release a new album - When Hell Freezes Over, and completed a very famous series of live performances. The group recently joined forces again and produced a new studio album titled Long Road Out of Eden, in 2007.
