Considered a legend in Chattanooga's live music scene, Jimmy Tawater is a phenomenal vocalist and guitarist. In his long stellar career, the artist served as the frontman for many Chattanooga bands. Tawater is popular for his energetic live performances and will soon be sharing the stage with the All-Star band, The River City Showcase. Jimmy Tawater made his debut in the 50s and started performing in local night clubs. Adopting an eclectic style, his music ranged from classical to rock and jazz-rock. Besides entertaining local audiences, Tawater also toured extensively and frequently hit the road with Leon Russell, Little Richard and Goose Creek Symphony. The artist has shown great versatility in his vocal range and his guitar riffs are lauded by many. In his concerts he shows the energy of a young performer, jumping around the stage, leaping onto the floor and engaging the crowd. His live shows include people of different age groups who enjoy his superb singing and lively stage presence. His upcoming performance with The River City Showcase is being looked forward to by the fans. He will be performing with almost ten members, supported by Janella Hayes and Jim Rhodes.
Janella Hayes is a critically acclaimed singer and has twice been named the "Female Vocalist of the Year". Jim Rhodes is the two-time winner of the "Bass Player of the Year" title and when these great musicians will take the stage together, fans can expect an astounding musical evening. John Cady, Barry Wilde, Johnny E. Smith, Tom Lifsey and Carl Vickers will also be performing with the band.
Jimmy Tawater was inducted into the Chattanooga Music Hall of Fame in 2009 and is one of the only three inductees.
