Later on, Johnson released his second single which failed to chart due to which he was dropped from his label. Before all that, Johnson also self released an album titled 'They Call me Country', which didn't receive much of a recognition.

Following the event of being dropped from his label, Johnson brought a turn in his lifestyle and while residing at his friend's place, he concentrated more on his song writing ability. During that time of his life he co-wrote several hit songs like 'Give it away' and 'Ladies Love Country Boys'.

Almost two years after the release of his debut album, Johnson released another one of his studio albums titled 'That Lonesome Song' over the internet. After Mercury Nashville Records gave his album a listen, they decided to offer him a record deal, and so he scored another record deal. 'That Lonesome Song' peaked at #6 spot on the U.S Country Chart and received certified Gold Status.

He has roped in Southern-rock band Whiskey Myers for the 12 date stint that will keep the two on the road from May 6 to July 31. The opening concert is scheduled in Charleston, South Carolina and most of the concerts will take place in July. The final performance will be in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
