Heaven and Hell is a band that is a musical collaboration of two of the Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler along with former members Ronnie James Dio and Vinny Appice. The original lineup included Osbourne and Bill Ward along with current members Iommi and Butler.

With 2006 induction of the original lineup into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Iommi who is the owner of the Black Sabbath name, decided to call the touring group Heaven and Hell, a title taken from the first Dio-fronted Black Sabbath recording, Heaven and Hell of 1980.

The four members of Heaven and Hell recorded and toured together as Black Sabbath from 1980-1982 and again from 1991-1992. They performed to their soulful melodies from 1980s Heaven and Hell, 1981s Mob Rules, 1982s Live Evil and 1992s Dehumanizer.

In 2006, the awesome foursome reunited to record three new songs for the compilation album, Black Sabbath: The Dio Years. They also embark on a new tour with many concerts scheduled at various places.

Marked as The Heaven and Hell 2007 Tour, this global concert tour by Heaven and Hell was in support of Black Sabbath's The Dio Years compilation CD.

The design for a 2007 Heaven and Hell concert tour was brought about when Rhino records informed Tony Iommi's management that they would like to include previously unreleased material for The Dio Years compilation.

Not satisfied with the available material, Iommi contacted Dio and suggested him that they should record some new songs together.

He agreed on it and they made great music during some successful recording sessions. The Dio Years proved a cult classic and after that, the band decided to tour again.

The year 2007 also witnessed the release of a double album by the group. The album, Live from Radio City Music Hall, was released in USA, Germany and all over Europe and proved successful in sales, popularity and critical acclaim.

Certified Gold by the RIAA on October 5, 2007, the album was a reminiscent of their earlier glory. It was released by Rhino Records in the US and SPV Records for Germany and the rest of Europe. The album was produced by Barry Ehrmann and directed by Milton Lage.

The band also had an equally successfully Metal Masters Tour in 2008 where it performed all over America to packed houses. Judas Priest, Motorhead and Testament were the other attractions of the tour.

The band is currently making headlines with their new album The Rules of Hell and hey their fans will have the more of it when they will start touring for it.
