The Hearts and Eyes Choir was established in 1989 by the help of Yukiwariso Group. Established in 1987, the Yukiwariso Group has been helping mentally or physically challenged as well as elderly individuals of the community to get employment and support. The Group along with the families of handicapped individuals managed to form the Hearts and Eyes Choir that has now become a highly celebrated chorus group. The Choir staged its first performance in Tokyo at the famous Japanese concert hall Bunka Kaikan. They played along Japan's oldest classical orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Conducted by Masahiko Enkoji, the performance was a major success and by the end of the show the entire hall had overcome with the spirit of unity and joy.

Since then the Choir has been performing around the country at major concert halls and venues. They continue to grow as performers as well as a community. The Hearts and Eyes Choir are highly inspired by Symphony Number Nine by the legendary German composer Beethoven. Hailed as the artist's greatest work, the symphony has become the most celebrated piece of music ever written. Musicians from around the world perform the symphony every year. In Japan, the music piece has been used to instill nationalism amongst people during the World War era. Even today, the composition is played throughout major concert venues in Japan during New Year's Celebration. The choral symphony uses words and voices during the final act that were taken from Friedrich Schiller's famous poem 'Ode to Joy'. The words spread the message of unity and brotherhood amongst all humanity. In order to compensate for the limited vocal ranges of the Choir's members, they made an addition to the four part chorus.
