The Gulf Coast Summer Festival brought some of R&B and soul music's finest on one stage at last year's edition..It promises to be even bigger this time around. This year's edition of the festival is expected to attract an even bigger crowd than its predecessor. This will be the second time that the event will be held at the Pensacola Casino Beach. Starting in noon and going all the way up till midnight, it will be an event to remember for a long time to come. History of the Gulf Coast Summer Fest goes all the way back to 2007 when it was held for the first time at the Pensacola Interstate Fairground. Since then, the Gulf Coast Summer Fest has come a long way to now become somewhat of an annual tradition in the Gulf Coast.

The latest edition of the Gulf Coast Summer Fest will  have Johnny Gill taking the stage. Being a romantic balladeer, Gill is all about connecting with fans through his emotional tracks. His hit singles like Rub You the Right Way, Wrap My Body Tight and Fairweather Friend have been heard by millions around the globe. Apart from being a member of the New Edition and LSG, Johnny Gill has also had a successful solo career spawning six studio albums. He has also been dominating the U.S R&B Charts with his singles like There U Go, I'm Still Waiting and My, My, My.

Gill however will not be the only star at the Gulf Coast Summer Fest. Known for his strong baritone vocals, Will Downing is no stranger to R&B and Soul music fans. As he steps on to the stage at the event, fans will get to see him sing some of R&B's biggest hits from his own repertoire as well as those sung by other artists. With a career spanning over two and a half decades, Downing has released numerous charting tracks like John Coltrane's A Love Supreme and a duet with Chante Moore called When You Need Me. He also earned a Grammy nomination back in 2000.

Also at the festival this year will be Dru Hill, a group of guys who produced hits like In My Bed, How Deep Is Your Love, and Never Make a Promise. The Dru Hill group members went on a hiatus a few years back, but their passion for music brought them back together. They are now touring extensively nationwide while also working on their fifth studio album at the same time.

Just to take things up a notch, staple of soul and R&B music, the Average White Band, will also perform their commercially successful tracks like Pick up the Pieces at the festival. Average White Band have been a part of the music landscape for more than four decades now but they still are going as strong as ever. Their hit albums like AWB and Cut the Cake are among the genre's best known works. They have inspired acts like Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, The Beatnuts, Ice Cube, Beastie Boys and many more with all that they have done and achieved over the years.

Gina Brown will also be a part of this year's event. Brown rose to prominence in 2011 with her breakthrough dance hit, titled G-Slide, which was succeeded by We're Having A Party. Both of these tunes caused quite a stir on the radio airwaves and were part of her album called G's Spot.
