Born in New York, child prodigy Mike and Tom Grossin started taking piano lessons when they were five years old. At the age of ten Tom started to study jazz music under a local jazz musician. By the time he was twelve, he mastered the skill of playing the guitar. It was then he decided to start up a band with the third Grossin brother, Stephen. The band "Oblique" was formed when they were in high school. They both later on moved to attend the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Tom dropped out of college to pursue a career in songwriting and performing. Mike on the other hand, mastered the skill of playing drums when he was eight and like Tom, he too started playing guitar by the time he was twelve. Mike joined the band with Tom and Stephen. Mike and Tom moved to Nashville where they started to perform as a duo.
Florida native Rachel Reinert attended a performing arts school when she was seven. Soon she started to play the guitar. Passionate for music, Rachel started to turn her poetry to songs. With support from one of her teachers she started to record demos and by the time she was fifteen, Rachel signed a publishing deal. She relocated to Nashville, where she worked on her songwriting skills. That is when she met with the Gossins, who found her through a social media channel, MySpace page.
