The members of Ghost B.C were previously a part of another band in 2006 and performed together. Without revealing any details of their past musical ventures, the nameless ghoul confirmed that it took them two years to finally assemble Ghost B.C. Each member has expressed his love for horror films in multiple interviews. The band claimed that, "we knew very early that to make this material work, we needed to fulfill our dream of putting a horror show together with music." By 2008, the band's mysterious persona and edgy songs were ready which earned them a record deal and their first live concert.
The lead vocalist, who calls himself Papa Emeritus II, wears a skull mask and dresses as a Roman Catholic cardinal. The other five instrumentalists that include a drummer, bass guitarist, rhythm guitarist, lead guitarist and keyboardist are known as the "Nameless Ghouls." Even though their origin is Sweden, but Ghost B.C has gained popularity in several countries like UK, US, Finland, New Zealand, Germany and Australia. Their music incorporates doom metal, stoner rock and heavy metal genres. Many critics compare them with bands like Mercyful Fate, Black Sabbath, Kyuss and Blue Oyster Cult.
