Consisting of four members, the band has left audiences spellbound since the 1960s. The lead singer and face of the group has always been Frankie Valli, a talented musician who has one of the best vocal ranges in the business. The man controlling everything behind the scenes was Bob Gaudio who was the piano player, the composer, lyricist and the producer of the band. His partnership with Valli was legendary and the two formed a formidable team. They were the only ones who remained constant members of the band over the years. Lead guitarist Tommy DeVito and bassist Nick Massi were the other two founding members.

The history of the group can be traced back to the 'Four Lovers,' a performing troupe that Valli, Massi and DeVito were a part of. They had enjoyed some success around their hometown but needed to get that big break. Their friend, Joe Pesci who went on to win the Academy Award for his acting, introduced the band to Gaudio. Gaudio, at that time, was a fifteen year old musical prodigy who had already achieved some national success with his song 'short shorts.' Not interested in touring and performing, Gaudio came to an agreement with Valli that lasts to this day. Valli would become the face of the band and was allowed to release solo albums, while Gaudio would handle song writing and production.

The newly formed group started performing in bars and restaurants all over town. They kept doing low key performances but had very little success and did not receive the recognition that they needed to sell albums. While being auditioned at a bowling alley for a performing engagement, they got rejected by the management. On their way back from the premises the band members, who had been experimenting with new names, decided to adopt the name of the bowling alley. And so the 'Four Seasons' were born.

Using a unique sound and with the help of renowned record producer Bob Crewe, they started recording songs and performing numerous shows in 1960 and 1961. Their first number one selling single was 'Sherry' which was written by Gaudio and released in 1962. The album titled 'Sherry & 11 Others' became a massive hit, selling millions of copies all over the country. The Four Seasons had finally hit the jackpot and they did not bother looking back from that point onwards.

The band released twenty albums in total, the last album coming in 1992. Almost all of their albums reached the Billboard Top 200 charts and were very popular. Close to sixty live compilations of the band have also been released and those have also managed to reach the Billboard charts. They released in excess of eighty singles over the years out of which forty songs made it to the Billboard Top 40 list. They had nineteen top ten songs and eight singles that made it all the way to the top spot.

The Four Seasons were the only group during the 'British Invasion' era that even came close to The Beatles in terms of album sales and popularity. They were inducted to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 for their efforts over the years. They have performed countless live shows all across the world and are now back for some more performances.
