Fleetwood Mac was formed in London in 1967 by fellow musicians namely guitarist Peter Green, drummer Mike Fleetwood, singer and pianist Jeremy Spencer and bassist John McVie. In 1975, the band released another self-titled album that made history by reaching #1 position on US Billboard and also landing at #23 and #3 respectively on UK and Australian charts. This was the first album by the band that sold around five million copies alone in the US earning a 5x Platinum certification.

The band popularity reached new heights by the release the album Rumours in 1977. This proved to be another all time hit as it landed at #1 on charts in US, UK, France and Australia. The album earned an 11x platinum certification in UK, 19x platinum in the US and 13x in Australia. Till date this album remains the highest charting album by Fleetwood Mac ever. Some other multiple platinum albums by this group include Tusk, Mirage, Tango in the Night, The Dance, Greatest Hits and The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac.
