Doo Wop is a distinctive African-American genre of music. It was very popular during the 1940s and the 1960s. It emerged from the big cities in the US such as Detroit, Newark, Chicago, Washington D.C., New York, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Los Angeles and Baltimore.

In recent times, the acclaimed American Music Theatre in Lancaster has been hosting hit doo wop live shows. The Fireflies, a doo wop band from America is also in the lineup of the event. The band has released a number of hit singles in the late 1950s. Their songs reached the prestigious Billboard Hot 100. Eddie Holman, a recording singer who is well known for his hit song, "Hey There Lonely Girl" (1970), will also be performing at the Fall Doo Wop Cavalcade. The Elegants, a doo wop vocal band that started out in 1958, is also in the line-up of the show. Their single, "Little Star" that was inspired by a nursery rhyme became a number one hit single. They have been featured on the Billboard Hot 100 for 19 weeks in a row.

The other two acts that you will find playing live at the Fall Doo Wop Cavalcade The Eternals and The Devotions. The Eternals is a remarkable vocal band that earned a top place in the music industry with singles such as "Other" and "Rockin' in the Jungle". They have also released various cover songs that went onto becoming major hits in Canada in the 1960s. The Devotions is also a vocal band that will be performing at the event. The band was formed in 1960. Their music has been featured on the Billboard Hot 100.
