Eva Avila
Eva Avila is a very famous name in the music industry of Canada. She is a great singer and songwriter from Gatineau of Quebec.
She has also the honor of winning the fourth season of Canadian Idol in the year of 2006. She is the second female singer to win title, in the history of the show.
Avilla was born in Ottawa, Ontario, on February 25, 1987. She had started singing at public occasions such a small age of 2. Her father was the main driving force behind her singing. She had won a prize in a talent show, hosted by a television network, at the age of 9.
Eva had been a very practical person even before the title of Idol, as she used to work as a postal clerk and partially as a beauty consultant. She had also won the Jeune Diva du Quebec contest.
Avila had also appeared in a competition for a Quebec TV soap-opera, which was aired on SRC called Virginie. She has the fluency to speak English and French, and a little command over Spanish as her father was of Peruvian origin.
Avila had appeared in the auditions of the fourth season of Canadian Idol in Ottawa. She had reached to the top 10, and ultimately reached the final two of the competition. It is interesting to mention that there were hundreds of fans of Avila, present in the finale of the show.
The show was attended by many prestigious names of the area and the showbiz world. She was perceived as the most suitable candidate to win the title and the life of a star.
Eva had won the title of Canadian Idol by defeating her counterpart with a vote margin of 131,000 votes. She has also the honor of being the first singer from Quebec to win the competition.
It is also an exemplary situation that Avila had signed with the Sony BMG record label, just after few hours of winning the crown. Her first single Meant to Fly, had a debut at number one on the Canadian singles chart for nine weeks.
The single had been given a certificate of double platinum. Avila had also signed a modeling contract with Ford Model. Avila had also started the 2006 NHL season, and she had the honor of performing the Canadian national anthem at the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Ottawa Senators game.
Her debut album, titled Somewhere Else, had been released on November 14, 2006. It had a starting at number 6 on the Canadian albums chart, 16,000 copies of it was sold on the first week. The second single from the album, I Owe It All to You, had reached at number nine.
Avila had been selected as a new face of Maybelline New York, which was also a record for any Canadian for the first time.
Avila had recorded her second album in Toronto, which was her turn to the sophomore album. She is enjoying the new heights of glory and fortune with each passing day.
