With David Roland Cook as his birth name, David Cook gained fame after winning in the seventh season of the hit reality television show American Idol. David Cook is 26 years old handsome man, born on 20th December, 1982 In Houston, Texas and is an American rock singer and a songwriter. He has his origin in Blue Springs, Missouri, United States and presently, he lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Before becoming American idol, Cook released an album, Analog Heart and after becoming an Idol, he released his second album, the name of which was after his own name, David Cook, album produced by Rob Cavallo. Cook won the American Idol title on 21st May, 2008 winning by 56 percent votes over the runner up David Archuleta.

Cook is the son of Beth and Stan Cook and is the middle one of the three brothers. Cook's interest in music began showing a t a very young age and for the first time he sang in his elementary school in a solo choir performance in his second grade. He started to sing on almost every Christmas and got his first guitar at the age of 12. He sang and performed in plays and choirs in his middle and high school. David was also good in basketball during his school days but he lost interest in sports and inclined more towards music. He graduated from the University of Central Missouri in graphic designing and went back to Tulsa, Oklahoma to pursue his career in music. Cook's favorite quote is "pain don't hurt" by Patrick Swayze. Cook's musical influences are Our Lady Peace and Big wreck.

Initially Cook had no intention to audition for the American Idol but he tried out at his brother's request that did not make it to the Hollywood. In the first audition in Omaha, Cook performed on Bon Jovi's "livin' on the prayer" and for his first Hollywood audition, he performed Bryan Adam's "everything I do, I do it for you". Cook accompanied his performances with a guitar in the songs "the world I know", "all I really need is you", "little sparrow", "dream big", "I'm alive", "all right now" and "hello" after the decision that the performances can play musical instruments with the song. His guitar is Gibson Les Paul and has the initials AC on it, which Cook told to be his brothers' initials. He also wore a wrist band during the show to support his seven year old fan suffering from Leukemia. Cook was blamed by the band Doxology that the song "Eleanor Rigby" by The Beatles'" was similar to the song they have recorded. Cook admitted it to the Idol host Ryan Seacrest but besides this debate, the critics liked Cook's taste to choose the tracks matching his vocal. Cook broke the Billboard Chart record after becoming Idol, beating Hannah Montanna. His first single, "The time Of My Life", made its place at number 3 on HOT 100. Cook's fame made him sign the endorsement deal for "Skechers" also his photo made his way to The World Almanac and Book of Facts with President Barack Obama and U.S Senator John McCain.

The success of his debut album got him the certificate of Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Cook's Declaration Tour started on 13th February, 2009 and is planned to end on 2nd May, 2009. Cook's other appearances include performance on Light On in the show Saturday Night Live in 2008. Also in 2008, he sang one of Clinton's favorite songs, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face for Hillary Clinton, who is a fan of American Idol. Cook sand Light On and Declaration on The American Music Red Carpet Live, this also in 2008. He sang Go Your Own Way with Carrie Underwood, also an American Idol winner and received a mic shaped statue by the Simon Fuller franchise along with his six other fellow Idols. Cook had a relationship with the American Idol Alum Kimberly Caldwell. The relationship ended in December, 2008. Cook won Male Reality/ Variety Star and was nominated for Best Presenter for the Teen Choice Awards. He also won Top 40 Male Artist of The Year in the New Music Awards, both awards in 2008.
