Datsik's real name is Troy Beetles and he was born in British Columbia, Canada in 1988. Datsik was Troy's name when he used to play games on his X-Box. When he first started making music he planned to keep it for a little while and then change it something else but his fans liked it so much that he stuck to it. He has turned Dubstep on its head with his amazing and ever evolving music. Dubstep is a type of an electronic music where a lot of dancing is involved. Dubstep is normally played at nightclubs and is a hard hitting, dark type of music which started getting noticed in the late 1990's. Its popularity got a major boost when some fans created websites over the internet to promote the genre and that was the first time Dubstep got to the masses. That exposure caught the attention of mainstream media and they started playing Dubstep on radios and started writing articles on it in different music related magazines.
 
Datsik was a music fan right from a very early age and when he became a musician he started producing hip-hop tracks. Datsik credits the famous hip-hop band Wu-Tang Clan as being his first major musical influence. He wanted to make those dark sounds coupled with funk. He was trying to get to make the sounds he wanted but there something missing and they weren't coming out like he wanted to but all that changed when he heard Excision.
Datsik switched to Dubstep when he heard his very good friend and a frequent music collaborator Excision play at the Shambhala festival in the year 2008. They stuck up a close friendship that has lasted till now. It was very tough for him at the start because Dubstep wasn't very popular in Canada but he kept going with the support from his mother. His credits his mom for everything he is now because when he was new to the scene it was his mother that kept on urging Datsik to pursue his career in music.
 
Datsik and Excision is a combination that is now famous worldwide when it comes to Dubstep music. Datsik was so fascinated by Excision when he first heard them play he was dumbfounded. He had no idea that the music he was listening to was Dubstep which would turn out to be his own forte for years to come.  The duo has done legendary compositions together like Excision, Datsik & Flux Pavilion / Boom EP / Rottun Recordigs / 2009 and Excision & Datsik / Swagga/Invaders / EX7 / 2009.
 
Datsik has never been shy of experimenting to make tunes that are different but keep hold of the facets that make Dubstep such a popular rage. One of his latest attempts is to go back to the days of his hip-hop music and incorporate Dubstep into it to make a new fusion. Here's hoping he manages to get it all together because this will be one Datsik effort that will be worth it.
