Actor, comedian and a gifted singer, Dan Finnerty is the one to lay the foundations of The Dan Band. Dan Finnerty has been seen in movies like, 'The Hangover', 'ock of Ages', 'The Wedding Planner', 'I Hate Valentine's Day', 'Starsky & Hutch' and 'Old School'. Some of his initial hits that earned him immediate fame and success are "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "Lady." Dan is also known for writing and performing the finale song for NBC's Last Comic Standing.

So far, The Dan Band has released two CDs filled with hilarious tracks. Many well-known magazines and newspapers like Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, Variety and L.A. Times have praised the band's musical style. Other than the cover albums, The Dan Band has also released a Christmas LP called Ho: A Dan Band Xmas. Some of the tracks that became popular include, "Ho, Ho, Ho," "I Wanna Rock You Hard This Christmas," "Merry Christmakwanzakah" and "Please Don't Bomb Nobody This Holiday." The music video for this one featured a variety of cameo roles by artists like Nicole Scherzinger, Sheryl Crow, Neil Patrick Harris, Macy Gray and Tenacious D.  Even though they make fun of other artists, people love the way they do it.
