Cyndi Lauper started to cover music of famous bands and singers in mid seventies, performing in the pubs and bars of metropolitan area of New York City. Her vocal chords got damaged in 1977 and she had to take a long break from singing. Many of the doctors she visited told her that she will never be able to sing again.
