Christina Sturmer is a young Austrian pop/rock singer who also leads the band of the same name. In a young age of twenty six, she has earned wide spread popularity and world wide acceptance of the music lovers. Today, she is regarded as the one of the top European rock music star with many super hit singles and well sold out albums.

Christina Sturmer was born in Altenberg, Linz, Austria on June 9, 1982. Her parents are Ludwig and Edeltraud who always supported the talented Christina and helped her way out to venture in the music world. She came from a musical family where everyone loves to listen and play music.

She has also been inclined towards music from an early age. Her love for music led them to play saxophone in a jazz band at the age of thirteen. In addition to this, she also played the transverse flute and other musical instruments.

In 1998, Christina founded a cover band named Scotty and became the lead singer of the band. The band used to play mostly English language music. Christina has fun times here as she played some of her favorite music. She also became member of an a cappella group named Sulumelina.

She managed to pursue her musical commitments along with her studies. However, after dropping out of high school, she began an apprenticeship with the bookstore, Amadeus.

After working at a book shop and singing in several bands for few months, Christina applied to Starmania. Tjis Pop idol-like televised singing contest proved a boon for her as she showed her talent to millions of TV viewers. The show earned his the much desired fame and acclaim.

She reached the finals of this Austrian music casting TV show and was regarded as the most favored Starmania finalist with a high number of votes every time. However, she was beaten by Michael Tschuggnall in the very last minute. But this was not the end of the world for Christina as she had already made name for herself through this show.

After grabbing the no 2 spot in Starmania, Christina started her career as a singer and soon she reached a high level of fans and audience being. She published her first song in 2003. Titled ?Ich lebe,? the track became a rage among the youth and occupied the number one spot on the Austrian music charts for nine weeks.

After this she started working more rigorously towards the completion of her first album. Ich Lebe was followed by two more highly successful singles, namely Geh nicht wenn du kommst and the anti-war song Mama (ana Ahabak).

The second track, originated during the war in Iraq depicted the emotional side of Christina as she represented a little Iraqi girl's perspective of the war through this soulful song. This song repeated the success of Ich Lebe and spent nine weeks at the number one spot on the Austrian charts.

Christina?s first full fledge album was released in May 2003 and quickly made her way to the top of the charts. The album was titled Frier Fall, and it was released exclusively in Austria where it occupied the number one spot for weeks. Following the album release of this album, she did an Austrian tour in fall of 2003 that also strengthen the sales of her first album.

Her second album, Soll das wirklich alles sein, was again released only in Austria in May 2004. The album was even more successful than Frier Fall and was followed by tour in Austria titled ?Wirklich alles!? The highpoint of the tour was the concert in the Vienna city hall in November, which sold out all 11,000 tickets in a very short time. This sold out concert was filmed, and was released in DVD form as Das wirklich alles! along with some interviews and a short biography of Christina Sturmer.

Later during the club tour that began directly after the Vienna concert, Christina presented for the first time her own original compositions, which she had written with her band. Next came the release of her single Vorbei in Germany in November 2004. A re-worked version of Ich Lebe was also released in Germany in April 2005. This single met with great success and reached number four on the German charts.

Her next album Schwarz Weiss was released in June 2005 in Germany and Switzerland. It reached number three on the German album charts, and stayed in the top twenty for more than a year. The singles like Engel fliegen Einsam, Mama (Ana Ahabak), and Immer an euch geglaubt were major hits.

The singles were also re-recorded to be more rock oriented. This was followed by a late 2005 tour of Germany and Switzerland. The Schwarz-Weiss tour lasted for two months and 40 concerts, in which some concerts had to be relocated to larger halls because of the great demand for tickets.

Christina Sturmer is a celebrated rock artist from Austria. He has been awarded with honors like Amadeus Austrian Music Award 2004 for Best Pop/Rock national and Newcomer of the Year national.

She has also won Amadeus Austrian Music Award 2005 for Best Pop/Rock national and Best Single national, ECHO 2006 for Best National Female Artist (Rock/Pop), Amadeus Austrian Music Award 2006 for Best Pop/Rock national and Best Single national and Goldene Stimmgabel 2006 for Best German Rock/Pop. More than any award, she has won the love of thousands of her fans the world over.
