After headlining the rock 'n' roll concert on Valentine's Day at the Keswick, Charlie Thomas' Drifters are all set to take their fans back in time to the 1950's era of pop music. The Drifters will hit the road this March where their first performance is scheduled at the NYCB Theatre. The performance will be a part of the Doo Wop Extravaganza, which is an event that has the best Doo Wop artists performing 50s' music. The Drifters comprises of talented musicians and is said to be one of the longest running bands in the history of pop that's still making live performances. The track was also featured in the film, The Sandlot and used in the television show, The Sopranos.
The band's repertoire includes another popular number, 'Save the Last Dance for Me' which earned them a lot of acclaim. It was ranked at number one position on the US Pop chart for three consecutive weeks. It clinched the third position on the Billboard Hot Country Singles. Not only did it top music charts in the States, but also reached number two position in UK. Adding to the list of hit songs by The Drifters is 'Some Kind of Wonderful' which was ranked at number six on R&B charts. The band gave another hit in 1961 titled 'Please Stay.' The song has been covered by various singers following its release. This was followed by 'Sweets for My Sweet' which was critically and commercially acclaimed. The band hit another jackpot with the track 'Up on the Roof' that was reviewed by the Rolling Stone as "in every way a remarkable pop song for 1962." It also made it to the magazine's 2004 list of '500 Greatest Songs of all Times.'
