Beginning and Career Development
An ethnic Albanian, BeBe Rexha was born in Brooklyn, New York with an almost unbelievable flair for singing at a young age. While studying at the Tottenville High School on Staten Island, Rexha participated in various musicals including "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Hello, Dolly". She even won the title of the "Best Teen Songwriter" at the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences at New York's annual "Grammy Day" event. The event gave her the golden chance to meet successful music producers and Rexha's music career took off.
Inspired by legends like Tori Amos, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations and John Legend, Rexha immediately collaborated with Pete Wentz, the bassist from the famous Fall Out Boy. The duo created the "Black Cards"; an alternative electro band that Wentz thought would experiment on infusing British rock with Jamaican reggae music. The two joined forces under the Island Def Jam label and composed a collection of songs that was to be released in 2011. The lead single "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Fame" was the first to be released followed by a string of leaks on YouTube. The official release was postponed to March 2012, after which the band declared that BeBe Rexha was no longer a member. Even though Black Cards wasn't much of a pleasant experience for Rexha, it did provide her with the required exposure and confidence for a successful solo career.
Solo Music Feats
The gifted Rexha immediately began uploading her solo covers and acoustic demos to YouTube and soon found a recording deal with Warner Bros. Records. In 2013 the blessed lyricist wrote various hit singles for artists like Selena Gomez, Eminem, Rihanna and Nikki Williams. Some of her most popular writings include "Like a Champion", "Glowing" and the Billboard smashing "The Monster". The number one Billboard Hot 100 track was to be featured on Rexha's own debut album but was later reworked and pitched to Eminem. In 2013, the artist released her song "Comeback Kids" and a joint feat with EDM group Cash Cash titled "Take Me Home". The single immediately became famous and debuted at number 57 on the Billboard Hot 100. A video of the song was later released under the Big Beat Records and created a lot of buzz about this up-and-coming songstress.
I Don't Wanna Grow Up
The celebrated singer released her 5 track EP titled "I Don't Wanna Grow Up" in May 2015. The EP was a fruitful collaboration with successful producers including Fraser T Smith, David Guetta and Frequency. Her lead single from the collection was "I Can't Stop Drinking About You" and was followed by "I'm Gonna Show You Crazy" and "Gone". Although the bidding singer has not yet released a studio album, it won't be long before her collection hits the shelves. With guest appearances in "Yesterday" and "This Is Not a Drill", the young artist has established herself well amongst the American music circuit. The star will now be seen opening Nick Jonas's headlining tour this September and fans are enthralled about watching their favorite singer in their own city. Don't forget to join the crowd as BeBe Rexha dazzles them with her riveting performances.
