The Beats Antique is an electronic music and world fusion music band from the United States of America. The band was formed in 2007 with the successful partnership with music producer known as Miles Copeland. The band has gained an immense fan following for them due to their highly electrifying live performances and the band's blend of various music genres. The Beats Antique comprises of three members namely, Zoe Jakes, David Satori and Tommy “Sidecar” Cappel. Satori was born and raised in 1979 in Burlington in Vermont. He brings about his personal experience through various kinds of styles that are in the world of music. Satori started playing music while he was in high school. Later on, he pursued music in the form of taking it up while he attended the California Institute of the Arts. As he attended college, he created his own music group which was known as the Funnies. The Funnies were successful enough to record two albums and also take a nationwide tour. He also went to other countries such as Nigeria and toured all over West Africa performing in live shows. When he moved to San Francisco in 2004, he met Zoe Jakes. The two of them began dating.
In 2000, Zoe Jakes became a famous name in the world of belly dancing. She is an experience ballet and jazz dancer for the last 10 years. Her belly dancing is a mix of Indian dance, popping, tango and the traditional belly dance. She has been touring extensively with many dance companies for the many years now. In 2004, both David Satori and Zoe Jakes started working together with Ableton Live which is a music show that the Beats Antique does all of its producing in. It was also at this time when jakes began to explore with electronic music. Tommy Cappel met Zoe Jakes eight years before they formed a group. Both of them had previously worked together as members of the popular Extra Action Marching Band. Cappel comes from a family where both of his parents are music teachers and one of his siblings is a drummer. So he grew up surrounded by music and ultimately that became an inspiration for him. He is an exceptional drummer who has been playing in many music groups before also.
In 2007, when the Beats Antique group was created in San Francisco in California, Zoe Jakes came to her manager, Miles Copeland in regard to form a music album. Miles Copeland found it as a splendid opportunity to get David Satori, Zoe jakes and Tommy Cappel together and form a band. They successfully released their debut album which was titled as Tribal Derivations. The second album Collide was an instant success as it went onto the list of top ten most downloaded artists in the World dance and Middle East charts. The album was also amongst the top twenty frequently downloaded electronic records on Amazon. The band released their third album called Contraption Vol. 1. This album was in collaboration with Jamie Janober, and beat boxer as well as hip hop artists LYNX. In 2010, they released their fourth album titled Blind Threshold. The fourth album features the famous harmonica artist John Popper of the Blues Traveler. The success of their live shows as gained them immense fame and popularity.
