Born in 1965, Atze Schroeder became a professional gymnast during his teenage and chose the career of a dance instructor. However, he went through a change of heart and began focusing towards comedy. In 1995, he started performing standup comedy, where his gymnastic abilities became a vital element of his acts. Schroeder participated at a renowned annual festival, the "Koln Comedy Festival", where his performance managed to mesmerize and enthrall the audiences. The comic routine at the festival proved to be a breakout performance for the artist and opened several doors for Schroeder. He utilized the fame garnered at the festival by making several appearances on popular TV shows including the talk show "Kaiser". In 2000, Schroeder managed to bag a lead role in the TV series "Alles Atze" that premiered on the RTL Network. The series became a national hit and catapulted Schroeder into an overnight star. His trademark line "Ja nee, is klar" became a national catch phrase. The show ran on air for six seasons, and earned several awards including a German Television Award and a German Comedy Award for "Best Sitcom" (2003) and Best Series (2005) respectively.
Atze Schroeder made his debut feature film appearance in the 2004 movie "7 Zwerge (7 Dwarves - Men Alone in the Wood)." A German comedy, 7 Zwerge followed the epic tale of Brothers Grimm's version of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves". Directed by "Otto Waalkes", the movie became a hit amongst the audience and was rated as the second most popular movie of the year. It reached more than seven million audiences and was categorized a blockbuster. Currently it is regarded as the fourth most successful film in Germany. In 2008, he featured in another German comedy film "U-900". In 2012, the cherished comedian and the German superstar, was presented with a "Star Walk" at the Muenster Hall during the Exhibition and Congress Center event. The honor was bestowed upon the artist for his epic achievement for selling more than fifty five thousand tickets via his performances since 2003. The award was given during the opening ceremony of the three-day comedy event headlined "Pain Free". The Star has also been awarded to other celebrities for achieving similar feat including "Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen". Several of Schroeder's performances at the Muenster Hall have pulled a crowd of more than fifteen thousand at a single event.
